To others, Liam Stokes is a confirmed bachelor, content with his job as a foreman and satisfied with his quiet life. Liam’s friends and family don’t suspect that under his calm surface a storm is gathering.Liam has had it with living a lie, but can’t summon the courage to come out as gay until faith takes charge of that. One morning, his back gives out and Liam is forced into getting a massage.Inked and pierced, Kieran is a young massage therapist with a healing touch and audacious smile. From the moment he sets his hands on Liam, Liam knows this will be unstoppable. But as their relationship evolves, both men are surprised at how much they have in common despite their age difference.Could this be more than a physical connection? And if so, how far can they take this love before someone else tries to end it?

Sawdust and Berries is an angst filled story by author Mel Bossa. The story pulls the reader in from the beginning and soon you won’t be able to stop reading. The heroes are total opposites yet they form a bond that many cannot understand.

Liam works in construction and while on the job injures himself. At the suggestion of a friend, he goes to a massage therapist. It is there that he meets Kieran and the attraction he feels for the younger man is instant. But Liam is deep in the closet and fears what would happen should he ever come out.

Kieran has been out on his own for some time. He has fought for everything he has, including becoming a massage therapist. But the young man has a habit of always choosing the wrong man and his current situation proves that.

These two men come together at a time when both want someone in their lives yet neither is really ready for what changes that may involve. The family issues that both men are forced to face play heavily into the troubles that enter the men’s relationship. More than once I was worried by the way things were playing out and must admit that I was afraid that this would not end well. While I loved the way that Liam was able to grow as an individual, coming into the strong person that he was meant to be, the pain he goes through to get there will make you cry.

I do not remember reading anything by this author before, but after reading Sawdust and Berries I will be looking for more.

For the man he loves, he will fight—body, mind, and soul.

Fourteen years ago, on a sun-drenched summer day on the banks of Craving’s Creek, Ryde swore to his best friend, Alistair, he’d never be alone in the world. Though Alistair was destined for the priesthood, there was something beyond holy about the first kiss they shared.

But a fun camping trip went horribly wrong when Alistair was involved in a horrific incident.

Now, at age thirty-one, Ryde’s life is a mess of alcohol and the painful imprint of his last look into Alistair’s desperate eyes. Since the evil they encountered on that shore, his first love has been lost to him—until he learns a friend’s wedding is to be officiated by a priest named Father Alistair Genet.

Amid the rush of emotions, one thought crystallizes: Ryde’s love for Alistair not only has never died, it’s stronger than ever. Stronger than God. But it may be no match for the church…and the repressed memories that are slowly tearing Alistair’s mind apart.

Contains a drunken confessional, a self-destructive clergyman, and a fight to the spiritual death for love.

Once in a while I’m fortunate to read and review a book that leaves me breathless because of it’s amazing characters and the story they have to tell. While, I’ve never read this author before, Mel Bossa has a true gift of writing a story that left this reader’s heart aching with the friendship, understanding, compassion and true love these two men had for one another.

There were times I literally wanted to reach into the story and give these two men a hug. They touched me in ways I haven’t felt in a long time and even though I went through a range of emotions while I read this book, I couldn’t bring myself to take a break…even when the story was heartbreaking at times.

Yes, Cravings Creek is a tear-jerker. Prepare yourself. Get some tissues available. The journey these two men go through will pull at your heartstrings, but even though I did the ugly cry at times, there were still some splendidly told moments that made this reader’s heart beat with sheer joy and happiness.

One of the beautiful things about this book was the relationship between these two men. They go through such hell at times, but are still able to feel nothing but kinship and pure love for one another. I liked how they truly strove to understand each other and face their demons head on. I thought Ms. Bossa did an amazing job at showing the devastation of what a mental illness can cause, but yet also show what how one can heal with the passing of time and with a little love, determination and understanding can give.

Craving’s Creek is one of the best books I’ve read…period. I can’t recommend this book high enough. If you are in the mood for a romantic tale that is beautifully executed with characters that will live with you long after you finish the book, Craving’s Creek is the story for you. Just make sure you have plenty of time to read before you start this book. Once you begin the journey with these two men you won’t want to stop it until you finish it. I loved, loved, loved this book and can’t wait to read more by this author in the future.
