Proposals don’t come with instructions.

Walter Lucas knows his boyfriend has been looking forward to the newest movie about a certain snow princess, but he isn’t prepared for the reality that is the front-row seat of Kelly Davidson’s cartoon obsession. There’s more going on in November than just the movie, however—Walter’s been working up the nerve to ask Kelly a certain question. When Walter set up his elaborate Thanksgiving marriage proposal, it seemed like such a good idea, but as the holiday, the movie premiere, and the question Walter never dreamt he’d be asking anyone converge…let’s just say even Hollywood’s best couldn’t sing and dance their way out of Walter’s tangle.

Review:

As soon as I read the blurb to Frozen Heart by Heidi Cullinan, I knew I had to read it. Love Lessons is one of my all-time favorite books and I was thrilled to read about the next chapter in Walter and Kelly’s life.

Frozen Heart is a very romantic tale. It’s an uplifting, sweet and sexy story that will melt your heart and bring a huge smile on your face. It’s always refreshing to read well-written heroes that are truly meant to be with one another. I love how Walter and Kelly ‘get’ one another and enjoy watching how they take the extra steps to make the each other happy.

All I can say is read this book. I truly loved it and so will you.

Frozen Heart is the continuation of Heidi’s book, Love Lessons. Although Frozen Heart could be read as a stand-alone, I DO NOT recommend it because you’ll immediately want to see how this amazing couple got together. Walter and Kelly’s story is an addictive one to read and you’ll love every minute you’ll spend reading it.

Highly Recommend!

2nd Edition

Love doesn’t come with a syllabus.

Kelly Davidson has waited what seems like forever to graduate high school and get out of his small-minded, small town. But when he arrives at Hope University, he quickly realizes finding his Prince Charming isn’t so easy. Everyone here is already out. In fact, Kelly could be the only virgin on campus.

Worst of all, he’s landed the charming, handsome, gay campus Casanova as a roommate, whose bed might as well be equipped with a revolving door.

Walter Lucas doesn’t believe in storybook love. Everyone is better off having as much fun as possible with as many people as possible…except his shy, sad little sack of a roommate is seriously screwing up his world view.

As Walter sets out to lure Kelly out of his shell, staying just friends is harder than he anticipated. He discovers love is a crash course in determination. To make the grade, he’ll have to finally show up for class…and overcome his own private fear that love was never meant to last.

Review:

I’ve read several books by Heidi Cullinan and I’ve loved them all. Ms. Cullinan has a way of really getting to the heart and soul of her characters. She has an ability to write well-told, sexy and thought provoking stories that live long with you long after finish reading it. The blurb does an excellent job at describing the story, so I won’t rehash a lot of it. Instead, I thought I’d talk about why I love this book and why I highly recommend it.

After I finished reading Love Lessons, I couldn’t help but feel like this was a well-rounded story. I loved how both heroes, and in my opinion, by the way Ms. Cullinan wrote them, loved them too. They are definitely not your average everyday cookie-cutter characters. No, these two men are extremely well-developed, humanly flawed and lovable heroes that live and breath off of the written page.

When it comes to the old adage that opposites attract, it is never better said than the romance in Love Lessons. Kelly comes from a small town, loves anything romantic. His favorite movies are Disney related and he hopes to one day find his own Prince Charming. Kelly is determined to have his own happily ever after.

When Kelly meets his new roommate, Walter, he wonders what in world they could have in common…except that they are both gay.

Walter has a love ’em and leave ’em attitude and doesn’t believe in romance, but he can’t keep from becoming fascinated with his new roommate, Kelly’s, romantic ideas and naive view of the world. As a budding friendship between the two men turn into something more, Walter soon learns that maybe there really is a Prince Charming out there for everyone…even for a pessimistic romantic like him.

I loved how Ms. Cullinan reveals the quirks and problems her characters are experiencing little by little as the story continues. Just as the Walter and Kelly get to know each other, we as readers, also truly get to know who these two heroes really are on the inside. I also loved how these two men really seemed to have an undying affection, friendship and deep love for each other. Believe me, Kelly and Walter’s story is not a quick, easy ride, but it’s truly a beautiful one to read.

Love Lessons is one of my all-time favorite books. It will be on my re-read and keeper shelf where I know I’ll revisit these characters and their amazing story again and again. If you are looking for a romantic read that will both bring tears to your eyes and joy in your heart, then Love Lessons is definitely the book for you!

Finding Mr. Right can be a snow lot of fun.

Minnesota Christmas, Book 3

Paul Jansen was the only one of his friends who wanted a relationship. Naturally, he’s the last single man standing. No gay man within a fifty-mile radius wants more than casual sex.

No one, that is, except too-young, too-twinky Kyle Parks, who sends him suggestive texts and leaves X-rated snow sculptures on his front porch.

Kyle is tired of being the town’s resident Peter Pan. He’s twenty-five, not ten, and despite his effeminate appearance, he’s nothing but the boss in bed. He’s loved Paul since forever, and this Christmas, since they’re both working on the Winter Wonderland festival, he might finally get his chance for a holiday romance.

But Paul comes with baggage. His ultra-conservative family wants him paired up with a woman, not a man with Logan’s rainbow connection. When their anti-LGBT crusade spills beyond managing Paul’s love life and threatens the holiday festival, Kyle and Paul must fight for everyone’s happily ever after, including their own.

Product Warnings
Contains erotic snow art, toppy twinks, and super-sweet holiday moments. Best savored with a mug of hot chocolate with a dash of spice.

Review:

When I am feeling down or need a pick-me-up, Heidi Cullinan is one of my go-to authors whose stories always leave me with a light heart and a happy smile on my face. One of the reasons why I love Ms. Cullinan’s books is because she writes likeable, yet flawed heroes that live and breathe off of the written page. Also, Ms. Cullinan mixes just the right amount of sweetness, sexiness and angst in her books that keeps her readers coming back time and time again.

Winter Wonderland is the third book in her Minnesota Christmas stories and in my opinion, it’s the best in the series so far. I’ve always had a soft heart for all of her characters in this series, but Paul has always been one of my favorites in the stories. I was thrilled to learn more about him and see the walls he has so carefully built around him, crumble down from Kyle’s tender love and care. As I read this story, it was easy to see that these two men truly belong together and I found myself really rooting for them to find their happy ending together.

Their happy ending doesn’t come easily but when it does it is truly a beautiful thing to read. Winter Wonderland has everything I love when it comes to reading romance and more. Between the sexy heroes and their hot chemistry together, it is definitely going to have a spot on my keeper shelf.

If you are looking for a well-written, feel-good and sexy holiday romance, then Winter Wonderland should be added to your must read list. Even though Winter Wonderland could be read as a stand-alone book in the series, I highly recommend reading all of the books in series order. Believe me when I say that you will fall in love with all of the characters and their stories will keep you warm on a cold winter’s night.

Normal is just a setting on the dryer.

The Roosevelt, Book 1

High school graduate Jeremey Samson is looking forward to burying his head under the covers and sleeping until it’s time to leave for college. Then a tornado named Emmet Washington enters his life. The double major in math and computer science is handsome, forward, wicked smart, interested in dating Jeremey—and he’s autistic.

But Jeremey doesn’t judge him for that. He’s too busy judging himself, as are his parents, who don’t believe in things like clinical depression. When his untreated illness reaches a critical breaking point, Emmet is the white knight who rescues him and brings him along as a roommate to The Roosevelt, a quirky new assisted living facility nearby.

As Jeremey finds his feet at The Roosevelt, Emmet slowly begins to believe he can be loved for the man he is behind the autism. But before he can trust enough to fall head over heels, he must trust his own conviction that friendship is a healing force, and love can overcome any obstacle.

Review:

Heidi Cullinan is one of my go to authors. There are several books of hers that are favorites of mine. These are the books I reach for time and time again when I’m in the mood for something special. I love revisiting her characters and reliving the story they have to tell. Carry the Ocean is another favorite of mine. It will be one I’ll reach for time and time again and I’m already looking forward to reading again soon.

One of the reasons I loved this book was the story these two men had to tell. Both men have been battling some form of mental challenge for years, and to watch them continue to try to come to heal and come to terms with it was a humbling experience. Seeing them strive to be what others consider to be ‘normal’ was often a heartbreaking and thought-provoking experience for me. It reminded me that the brain is a very fragile thing and how thankful I am that I’ve been lucky enough to not have to deal with the issues both these characters do.

This is told with a dueling first person point of view. I, for one appreciated this. Now we get to experience firsthand what both characters are going through. We get to experience their joys, heartbreaks, bad days, good days and the healing process both of them go through and I loved every minute of it.

Not only does Carry the Ocean have a very compelling, well-written storyline, the intense feelings these men have for one another really jumped off of the written page for me. I loved watching their relationship grow and evolve. It wasn’t always an easy thing for either of them, and they both quickly figure out that love and friendship always takes love and understanding on both sides. Their love is an enduring, beautiful one and definitely pulled at this reader’s heartstrings.

I’m overjoyed that this is a first book in a series. I can’t wait to see what happens next and to hopefully revisit these characters soon. Believe me when I say that they will live within your heart long after the book is finished.

I can’t recommended this book high enough. I truly loved it and so will you.

Let it Snow by Heidi Cullinan

Title: Let it Snow
Author: Heidi Cullinan
Publisher: Samhain Publishing
Pages: 228
Characters: Frankie Blackburn, Marcus Gardner
POV: 3rd
Sub-Genre: Contemporary, Holiday Romance
Kisses: 5

Blurb:

The weather outside is frightful, but this Minnesota northwoods cabin is getting pretty hot.

Stylist Frankie Blackburn never meant to get lost in Logan, Minnesota, but his malfunctioning GPS felt otherwise, and a record-breaking snowfall ensures he won’t be heading back to Minneapolis anytime soon. Being rescued by three sexy lumberjacks is fine as a fantasy, but in reality the biggest of the bears is awfully cranky and seems ready to gobble Frankie right up.

Marcus Gardner wasn’t always a lumberjack—once a high-powered Minneapolis lawyer, he’s come home to Logan to lick his wounds, not play with a sassy city twink who might as well have stepped directly out of his past. But as the northwinds blow and guards come down, Frankie and Marcus find they have a lot more in common than they don’t. Could the man who won’t live in the country and the man who won’t go back to the city truly find a home together? Because the longer it snows, the deeper they fall in love, and all they want for Christmas is each other.

Warning: Contains power outages, excessive snowfall, and incredibly sexy bears.

Review:

I’ve never read a book by this author that I didn’t love. She is able to really capture the essence of her characters and by the end of the book, I adore them probably as much as she does.

One of the things that I truly appreciate about this author’s work is how smoothly she is able to write a story. Let is Snow is a holiday themed, feel-good book, but Ms. Cullinan was also able to write a story with just the right amount of angst and drama just to keep it interesting. I liked that her heroes are far from perfect. They have insecurities, don’t always do the right thing and make mistakes. Even though they are wonderfully flawed, the two heroes really fit perfectly together.

I loved these two men. Frankie is simply adorable. He’s full of life and energy and sweet and sexy as can be. He tries to make the best of bad situations, but somehow manages to anger Marcus no matter what he does. Frankie is convinced that Marcus hates him, but when Marcus finally allows himself to show Frankie his true feelings and attraction to him, Frankie is soon faced with difficult decisions that will change both he and Marcus’s life.

Marcus is a big ball of hurt. He’s quit his job as a lawyer and is slumming it with is two friends as he works as a lumberjack. When he saves the stranded Frankie on the side of the road, he is immediately fascinated with him. But Marcus has been hurt in the past, so he guards his heart jealously and although Marcus tries to keep Frankie at arms-length, Frankie’s generous nature and loving heart soon break all of the barriers between them.

I LOVED this book! It is so well paced and kept this reader on the edge of her seat. I highly enjoyed watching these two men work through their differences and find a way to be together. Let it Snow has plenty of romance, sweetness, drama and hot sex to keep many readers very warm and satisfied from start to finish.

Highly Recommended!
