Sometimes, to save another, you have to look at your own weaknesses first.

Ever since Nicholas saw the small Dragon in chains in the scrying bowl, he knew that he had to save him. For some reason Nicholas is drawn to the other man and he won’t rest until he knows he’s safe.

Tommy has been a captive from the day he was born. When he is rescued by Nicholas he feels an instant connection to him. But Tommy is afraid to let his guard down and let anybody get close to him.

Can Tommy overcome his abusive past? Or will it doom him and Nicholas from finding love?

Review:

Dragon’s Breath is quick and easy paranormal themed story with plenty of action, sex and a cast of characters that are all sexy within their own right.

Stephani Hecht is an author I’ve read before and for the most part, I really liked what I read. She writes heroes who are pretty damn sexy and there is usually a wit to her writing that gives me a chuckle or two.

Who wouldn’t love Tommy? He’s small and has been a slave all of his life. Unable to shift into his dragon, Tommy has some self-esteem issues but still has a zest for life that I really liked. Nicholas is the perfect man for him. He is sarcastic, funny and a general bad ass when it comes to fighting for what is right and fighting for Tommy. They were a good couple and I liked them together.

The story is a smooth read. I liked the backstory these characters told and overall, enjoyed the interesting life they lead. If you are looking for a short and sexy story this one is for you.

I wish there had been more to it. There is an instalove factor to it and because it is a shifter story, I guess I understand it, I just wish there was more to the relationship than what was given us. There really isn’t a buildup between these two men and I missed it. I’ve read many stories by this author and though I really like them, in some ways they all follow a pattern that I would love for the author to get away from, because I would love to see a fresh take on a much used formula.

I liked Dragon’s Breath. I wish it had been longer had more depth to Tommy and Nicholas’ relationship.

Dragon’s Breath is the third book in the Dragon’s Soul series by Stephani Hecht. I haven’t read the first two, Dragon’s Eye and Dragon’s Heart yet but I do plan on reading them some time in the future.

I recommend this read to those who enjoy a shifter story and crave a quick and easy read. Fans of this author will enjoy her latest installment in this series and look forward to more.

Gabbi Reviews: The Great Unicorn Hunt Begins by Stephani Hecht

Title: The Great Unicorn Hunt Begins
Author: Stephani Hecht
Publisher: eXtasy Books
Pages: 78
Characters: Charlie, William
POV: 3rd
Sub-Genre: Paranormal, Shapeshifter, Series
Kisses: 3.5

Blurb:

Charlie is a happy Unicorn. He has a place to live, all the sugar he could ask for, friends, and he’s safe. Or, at least he was until some Vampire put a billion dollar bounty on his head. Not wanting to put his friends in danger, Charlie leaves and makes a run for it on his own.

Ever since William was cursed with immortality, he knew he’d never be able to find someone to love. But one look at Charlie challenges that thought and sends William’s life spinning.

Will William be able to rescue Charlie? Or was their love doomed from the very beginning?

Review:

The Great Unicorn Hunt Begins is the second book in the Little Monsters series by Stephani Hecht. I admit that I haven’t read the first book in the series, but after reading this one, I plan to rectify that soon.

One reason I liked this book was the classic humor that Ms. Hecht writes. She has a very creative mind and builds the paranormal world(s) her characters live in a way that is both unique and easy to follow. I really enjoyed the world of these not so common monsters that we normally see in this genre. I found myself laughing out loud from the banter William had with his sister Lliassa as well as with Charlie. I also enjoyed the attraction between William and Charlie and quite frankly, was enamored with Charlie *who is the unicorn* himself.

I liked how Charlie wasn’t one to be pushed around. When he finds out there is a bounty on his head, he is able to defend himself and basically doesn’t take any crap from anyone. I thought he and William were a good match. William’s determination to protect Charlie *even when he doesn’t want to protected* was fun to read and I understood why William was basically enamored with Charlie from first sight.

There is also a lot of action in this book that kept this reader wondering what was going to happen next. I found myself really liking some of the secondary characters and I’m anxious to see what Ms. Hecht has in store for us next. I do wish the story had been fleshed out a little more. I thought the last few chapters was washed over and the ending felt rushed to me.

If you are looking for a creatively written romance with plenty of action along with heroes who are both unique and sexy, The Great Unicorn Hunt Begins is definitely for you. Ms. Hecht has definitely started an interesting and unique series filled with memorable characters that readers will fall in love with.

Will Cree and Burt be doomed from the start? Or will love find a way?

Review:

Stephani Hecht writes fast-paced, intriguing and sexy romances. I particularly enjoy Ms. Hecht’s shifter series and always look forward to reading them when they are released. All are solid and enjoyable reads and there are some I know I’ll read again and probably again. The Wolf Whisperer is one of those stories.

There are a few reasons why this is one of my favorite reads in this series. For one, I love Ms. Hecht’s way of including humor within her stories. Even when the chips are down and the characters might be going through an intense moment, she has a real knack of throwing in some witty moments that lighten things up just when it needs to be. There were many times I laughed out loud while reading this story and it left me with a huge smile on my face. There is nothing better to me than a feel-good, well written romance because it will brighten my day each and every time.

I also loved the two heroes in this book. In all honesty, I love most of Ms. Hecht’s heroes, so this wasn’t too much of a stretch, but there was something special about Cree and Burt that really pulled at my heartstrings. I loved their backstories, I loved the chemistry between them and I simply loved them together.

There is also plenty of action in this book that kept me wondering what was going to happen next. All in all, The Wolf Whisperer is a highly satisfying read that lived in my heart and mind long after I finished reading it. As always, I do with the book had been longer (purely for selfish reasons, of course…lol) and I can’t wait to see what Ms. Hecht has in store for us in the future.

Although, this could easily be read as a stand-alone book in the series, I recommend reading all of the books in series order. You’ll love the characters and each and every book brings something special to the series.

The Wayne County Wolves books in series order are:

Ervin’s Dilemma
Run, Alger, Run!
The Odds Maker
Braxton’s Salvation
Justice’s Little Nibbler
The Angry Dove and the Assassin
The Leopard who Changed his Spots
The Omega and the Assassin

POV: 3rd
Sub-Genre: Shifter, Romance, Series

In an ever-changing world, could two enemies dare fall in love?

Kidd, who just found out he was a Raven shifter, is barely making ends meet. With a group of like-minded Ravens, they have to find enough food to eat and survive in this whole new scary world that they’ve found themselves thrust into. Try as hard as Kidd can, he is at the bottom of his roads and he has nobody to turn to.

Clarkston just moved to the feline coalition months before. When he and his group of soldiers stumble upon a group of friendly, young Ravens, they have no choice but to take them back to HQ. The fact that Clarkston feels immediately attracted to Kidd has nothing to do with the situation…honest.

Will these two be able to overcome hate and be together or will they be torn apart, left to love each other from afar.

Review:

When it comes to me needing a pick-me-up, Stephani Hecht is one of my go-to authors. I’ve read many of her books and there hasn’t been one that I haven’t thoroughly enjoyed.

I love to read about shifters and romance and Ms. Hecht is a master at what she does. As a reader, I appreciate how she is able to take two different breeds of shifters, who are supposed to be enemies, and still make them have a strong emotional and physical connection. I really liked how Kidd and Clarkston were able to go from virtual strangers to being able to really work well as a team and as mates.

Even though they are totally different shifting breeds they have more in common than at first glance. Both are rejects. Both have had their personal struggles and failures. Both have learned to rely on themselves, but also in turn they learn to trust and rely on others and both men truly wanted to belong and be accepted by others. It was easy to see how much Kidd and Clarkston belonged together and I loved watching their journey together.

Another thing I really love about her books is that even though they can be quite violent at times, she is able to balance it out with a lot of light moments too. There were several times I laughed out loud from some of the playful antics her characters go through. (Ran was one of my favorite new characters and I LOVED the raccoons!! They totally cracked me up!)

Ms. Hecht writes action packed stories with characters that are easy to fall in love with. Cry For Me, My Little Raven is a great addition to her Lost Shifters series. As with all of her previous books in the Lost Shifters series, this book is jam packed full of intrigue, romance and a fast-paced storyline that immediately swept this reader into the lives of her heroes and the story they had to tell. If you are looking for a couple of hours of pure fun, action and romance, Cry For Me, My Little Raven is definitely the book for you!

Cry For Me, My Little Raven
is the 32nd book in the Lost Shifters series. Now these books could be probably be read as a stand-alone story, but I highly recommend reading her other books in the series as well. Believe me, you’ll fall in love with these characters as much as I have and you’ll be glad you did.

Characters: Adan, Might
POV: 3rd
Sub-Genre: Paranormal, Series
Kisses: 5

Blurb:

When two bad boys meet, nothing good can come of it.

Might is the biggest outcast in the pack of Wolves that he lives with. Not only is he actually an Eagle shifter, but he’s also half-human, but that hasn’t stopped him from sleeping with every available male in the pack. Hey, call him a slut, but he likes to have a good time.

Adan left the pack ten years ago, before they could have a chance to exile him. Always breaking the rules, fighting, and committing petty crimes, he caused nothing but trouble for the pack. Now he’s back, and the question everyone is asking is: has he changed his old ways?

Then he meets Might, and he knows he has to have the Eagle shifter. But when these two bad boys clash, will they cause nothing but trouble? Or will they be able to tame each other?

Review:

Might’s Karma is a delightful edition to the Wayne County Wolves series. Ms. Hecht continues to write sexy, action filled stories that are both highly satisfying and oh-so-much fun to read!

One of the reasons why I loved this story was because I really enjoyed the journey that both Might and Adan go through. Not only does their relationship grow and flourish as the story progresses, they both go through a lot of personal growth, and it’s because of this, it brings forgiveness, as well as, the hope for love and happiness in their lives. Believe me when I say that both men are not angels, but together they learn to take a chance at changing themselves for the better as well as learning to rely and depend on each other.

I thought Ms. Hecht really got to the heart and soul of her characters and I loved watching these two men form a strong and loving bond together. They made a great couple and it was easy to root for them to fall in love and achieve their happy ending. If you love Ms. Hecht’s books, it’s easy to say that you will love this book too. If you haven’t read any of Ms. Hecht’s book, I highly recommend reading this series and giving this author a try. Her books are sexy and romantic and I’ve never read a book by her I didn’t love.

Might’s Karma is the 10th book in the Wayne County Wolves series. Although it probably could be read as a stand-alone in the series, I highly recommend reading the books in series order.

Please give a Big Top 2 Bottom Welcome to the Amazing Stephani Hecht!!

Welcome, Stephani Hecht!! We’re thrilled you’re here!

Thank you, Stephani for taking some down time and spending it with us.

Let’s start this off with a beverage. We have coffee, tea, some sort of juice (I think it’s been in here a few weeks) and soda. What would you like?

I’d like some coffee with some caramel flavored creamer, please. I live on that stuff. Just don’t tell my doctor since he told me I couldn’t have any more caffeine. That little sadist.

Can you tell us a little bit about yourself?

I’m just your average mom, who happens to have several tattoos, dress in clothing that has skulls and zombies on it, and write M/M romance. So, I’m completely normal. LOL

What forces brought you over to the MM Genre and what made you want to write it?

I didn’t realize it until a good friend pointed it out to me, but it was because of my son, Cody. He was still in the closet at the time and that was my way of telling him that I would accept him. After he came out, I continued to write the genre because I wanted to show that everybody deserves a HEA.

Would you care for some cookies?

We have chocolate chip, peanut butter, oatmeal with or without raisins and a package of mystery ones. We have cake too. Your choice. Cookies!!!!!! I’ll take all your peanut butter ones. They have always been kryptonite.

How many hours a day do you spending writing?

12-16 hours a day. It depends on what I have going on.

Do you write right through or do you revise as you go along?

I usually right through and go back and fix it later.

When it comes to plotting, do you write freely or plan everything in advance?

I try plotting ahead, but it never fails, I always jump of the plotting and end up doing my own thing. I’m a little stinker like that.

Of your characters do you have a favorite and why?

Shane. I always root for the wounded underdog. Sure, Shane may be a tad the crazy side, but I can overlook that.

Writers often go on about writer’s block. Do you ever suffer from it, and what measures do you take to get past it?

If I go through writer’s block, I call my sister, Jackie Nacht and we talk until we get the block hammered out. That’s one of the pros of having another author in the family.

Do you have a particular spot in your house that you call your comfy zone?

(The place where you write.) Right now, it’s on my couch. The dogs like to jump up and cuddle with me. With how cold it’s been outside, I need their extra body heat.

When you’re in the mindset to write, do you put a sign up that warns others not to disturb you while at work?

In a way I do. I put my ear buds in. That is my do not bother me, signal. It usually works. But sometimes my daughter will still come over and pull them out if she thinks she has something very important to tell me.

How would you describe your sense of humor? Who and what makes you laugh?

I’m really snarky, which gets me in trouble sometimes. Like for example, my father walked into a glass wall at the gym the other day and I’m still laughing about that.

What is the most frequently asked question?

People love Shane, so it’s usually questions about him. Don’t worry readers, I promise to never kill him off, so you rest easy. LOL

What are you working on now?

Right now I am working on the first book in my new series The Flushing Owl Series. I hope that everybody will like it as much as I do.

Writing is obviously not just how you make your living, but your life-style as well. What do you do to keep the creative “spark” alive – both in your work and out of it?

I love to people watch. If you just spend 10 minutes doing it, you’d be amazed at the amount of plot bunnies you’d find.

What kind of books do you like to read outside of the MM Genre?

I love True Crime books, history books and YA.

Pick one: Scientist, Astronaut, Retail, or Horse Trainer-
Astronaut.

I would love to be able to float in space. Just so long as I get lost like Sandra Bullock.

Aside from writing, what else do you enjoy doing?

I love meeting with my writing buddies for coffee. We have so much fun talking about the industry and just gabbing about everyday life.

Any special projects coming out soon we should watch for?

My new series The Flushing Owl Series.

Can you please tell us where we can find you on the Internet?

You can email me anytime at stephani@stephanihecht.com or FB me at http://www.facebook.com/stephani.hecht

It was a pleasure having you here with us today. Please come by and let us know how you’re doing from time to time. OH! And before you leave, can I get your help here in the kitchen? Thanks!!

EMS Heat, Book 17: Stat by Stephani Hecht

Title: EMS Heat, Book 17: Stat

Characters: Wells, Jaret
POV: 3rd
Sub-Genre: Contemporary Romance, Series
Kisses: 4.25

Wells thinks life is all work and no play, and Jaret thinks life is all one big party. When the two clash, an attraction develops that nobody saw coming.

Jaret may be a paramedic, but that doesn’t mean he lets the everyday horrors he sees keep him down. Every day is a reason to party, and he always loves to be the center of attention. When he finds out that his new partner is Wells, the stuffy medic in the company, Jaret is less than thrilled.

But the longer they work together, the more Jaret finds himself drawn to Wells. Wells, on the other hand, seems not to even notice that Jaret is there. Will Jaret be able to attract Wells’ attention? Or do opposites really distract?

Review:

When I’m in the mood for a sexy and fast-paced romance, I know I can reach for anything written by Stephani Hecht. Between her ongoing series and her sexy and interesting characters, she’s one of those authors that I’m always anxious to read her latest release.

The EMS Heat series is a good one. There’s always an interesting backstory going on as well as a very heated chemistry between the two heroes. Like the books before this one, Stat, has everything I love when it comes to reading a Stephani Hecht novel.

Both heroes are interesting men. At first glance, they are total opposites and seem to actively dislike one another. Wells is serious, quiet and studying to get into medical school, whereas, Jaret has a zest for life that often gets him into trouble because of his prankster shenanagans. When they are partnered up together at work, both men are unhappy about it. But soon, they begin to see that there is more to each of them than meets the eye. Soon, they start to see the common ground between them and a romance blossoms.

I also liked the backstory of Jaret’s younger brother Leo. (I hope he gets his own story) And although Leo was…well…bratty and inconsiderate, I definitely could see the love between the two brothers in the end. Also, Dallas proves that he is not only a good and understanding friend to Jaret, he also becomes one to Wells too.

Stat is a quick read. There’s not a lot of angst in it, but it is a fast and entertaining read. I do wish the book had been longer. I would have liked for the relationship between Wells and Jaret to have been fleshed out a bit more, but it was still a fun and sexy read that I easily can recommend

There are 17 books in the EMS Heat series. Although this could easily be read as a stand-alone story in the series, I do recommend reading the other books because it really is a good series to become addicted too.

The EMS Heat series in book order are:

Running Hot
Man Down
Lights and Sirens
Priority One
Code Blue
Red Lights and Silver Bells
High Flow
Three Alarm Fire
Shades of the Past
In a Hero’s Shadow

Characters: David, Night
POV: 3rd
Sub-Genre: Paranormal, Series, Romance
Kisses: 5

Blurb:

You can run, but you can never hide from the evil that hunts you in the night.

Ever since David learned about the war between the Birds of Prey and Blood Demons, he has longed for the Birds of Prey leader, Night. When the warrior rejects him, David leaves to forget the world he was thrust into. Night was created for one purpose, to fight in a war between good and evil. When his Goddess Athena gives him the gift of a mate, Night doesn’t know how to care for the man meant for him. Will Night learn how to love the David, and will he get to him in time to protect him?

Review:

I am totally in love with the writing team of Jackie Nacht and Stephani Hecht! Between them, they write fast-paced, adventurous, romantic stories that never fail to keep this reader on the edge of her seat! This series in particular has a fresh feel to it. There is more angst, more intrigue, more action and the hot chemistry between the two heroes are always off the charts!

There is a lot of miscommunication going on. David and Night aren’t sure of their feelings for each other and in all honesty, are trying to survive. I thought the emotional pull between them was very strong as well as their all around chemistry together. As for the action, well, there’s plenty of it. But thankfully, the authors know how to mix the right amount of action, angst, humor and romance that makes this series stand out among many paranormal based ones.

Between the fresh plot and the interesting characters, I’ll be coming back to read this series again and again. I can’t wait to see what these authors have in store for us next!

Although Running After David could probably be read as a stand alone in the Birds of Prey series, I highly recommend reading the first book, Saved by the Hawk first. The series is really has a very strong, addictive start and once you read the first book, you’ll definitely want to read the second.

POV: 3rd
Sub-Genre: Paranormal, Series, Romance, Shifter
Kisses: 4.5

Lies…lies…lies….all of it is lies…until the truth comes back to bite you in the ass, and you have to deal with it or risk losing everything you fought so hard to protect.

Donny left his childhood pack behind him when his father couldn’t accept the fact that his son was just an Omega. Destined to be the lowest on the pecking order of the pack, Donny acts out in ways that are sometimes not too healthy for his wellbeing. Proctor is coming to Black Creek to visit an old friend. The last thing he expects is to find himself hanging out with some young, blond brat. What’s more, Proctor doesn’t expect himself to be attracted to the little troublemaker. But things aren’t what they seem to be in Black Creek, and as Proctor digs deeper, he discovers secrets that are explosive. Will he be able to accept the truth? And more importantly, will he be able to accept Donny?

Review:

As many of you know, I really love Stephani Hecht’s books. I enjoy the sexual chemistry between her characters and her stories always have a lot of action, romance and intrigue. I was definitely interested in reading One Bratty Omega. Give me a paranormal/shifter book written by Ms. Hecht and I’m a happy reader for an hour or two.

I really felt sorry for Donny. All of his life his father has told him he’s worthless and not an asset to his former pack. As an Omega, Donny doesn’t realize his worth to his new pack and has a hard time understanding that his father was nothing but an abusive man who fed him nothing but lies all of his life.

When Donny is in charge of showing Proctor around, Donny is surprised by the immediate connection he feels for him. Donny hates lying, but Proctor is a human who is visiting his friend, whom he doesn’t realize is now a wolf shifter and is on pack territory.

Proctor is a cop who knows something is up as soon as he arrives at his friends’ house. Everyone is acting like they are keeping something from him, and his instinct tells him that everything is not as it seems. But when he meets the sweet, mysterious and sometimes bratty Donny, Proctor is immediately drawn to the younger man. Proctor soon finds himself captivated with Donny even though he knows there is something Donny is keeping from him and even though there is age difference between them.

I really liked this story a lot. I thought Donny and Proctor were great together and I enjoyed watching the sizzling attraction between them develop into something more meaningful. The story itself has a lot of humor, action and romance and I before I knew it, I had read the entire book before I realized it.

Their romance moves pretty quickly. Within a week, they have strong feelings for one another, despite their reservations and fear of actually allowing themselves to fall in love. I would have liked more scenes with the two men in it, but I still enjoyed every moment they spent together and thought they were very sexy together.

One Bratty Omega is the second book in the Building the Pack series. Although, I have not read the first book, A New Wolf by RJ Scott, I was able to easily follow the story, so it definitely can be read as a stand-alone book in the series. I will go back and read the first story, because I am intrigued with these characters and it’ll be interesting to read how everything started.
