2nd Edition

Game designer Henry Delloit loves his life, his mountain community, his isolated dream home, and the snow. He also loves that the X-treme Games blow into the area for a month every year, bringing with them hundreds of athletes.

Ecco Rasmussen loves boarding. He knows he’ll never make it to the big time, but as long as he can get on his board and go, he doesn’t care. If only his manager, Blake Dobbs, would cut Ecco a break. The man’s possessive and mean, and believes he owns Ecco.

When Henry and Ecco meet at the Branchberry Games, it’s lust at first sight. An injury on Ecco’s qualifying run offers an opportunity to spend quality time together at Henry’s home, away from the crowds and out from under Blake’s thumb.

At this rate, lust might turn into love, but not if they can’t keep their romance hidden from Blake.

First Edition published by Torquere Press, 2010.

Review:

X-Factor by Sean Michael is a sexy read between two heroes that discover the healing powers of unconditional love. This is the second edition of this book and although I have a copy of both editions, I enjoyed this version a lot because it was a tighter, well-edited read.

When it comes to writing sex scenes, Ms. Michael’s knows how to steam up a computer screen. The chemistry between Ecco and Henry was intense and very sexy to watch unfold. I liked how they really seemed to have gotten to know one another both in a physical and emotional way.

When Ecco and Henry first meet, they seemed like total opposites. Ecco is a successful X-treme boarder and has a zest for life. He’s fun and flirty but behind his upbeat persona lies the pain of being in an abusive relationship that he’s been desperately trying to end. On the other hand, Henry is a very successful game designer who is sweet and kind and lives in a remote cabin all alone. Though he spends much time alone, Henry loves to watch the X-treme games and when he spots Ecco he is immediately drawn to his sunny, outgoing personality and his sheer talent at snowboarding.

As the two men meet and get to know each other, it was easy to see how their differences began to merge into things in common. They get to experience and see life in a different way and both heroes easily fall into a loving, strong relationship.

I really liked this book. Ms. Michael’s often writes likeable characters and in X-Factor she doesn’t fail to live up these standards. I could easily see why these two men fell in love and I enjoyed the story they had to tell. As per most of Ms. Michael’s books there is a lot of sex scenes in this one. As I mentioned before, I really enjoyed the chemistry they had, but I can’t help but wish there had been a little less of them and more heart to heart content and conversation between Ecco and Henry.

If you are looking for a quick, sexy read then look no further because X-Factor is the book for you. It’s a satisfyingly sexy book that would be a good choice for a lazy afternoon read.

It’s not going to be easy, but Tide’s going to have to convince Lance he belongs at Tide’s side as both lover and sub.

Review:

The New Boy by Sean Micheal is a very lighthearted, fun and romantic book with a beautiful BDSM twist. I know this story was more geared to be a BDSM novel, but it truly has the most amazing an sexy BDSM elements you could want in a book. As much as I loved the hot BDSM scenes, it was the romance in this story that really brought me into the lives of these characters.

Lance just got his contract to do a deck of erotic deck of cards. As a photographer, it’s a dream come true. Now, all he has to do is find the right models-which is easier said than done. But, when Tide and his friends come in, they are a walking wet dream and Lance doesn’t know what to do with himself. As difficult it is, Lance prides himself as a professional and he does his best to be professional at all times. This proves difficult when at every turn, Tide tries to catch his attention and draw him into his world. Tide knows what he wants the minute he notices Lance and how he just has to convince Lance to submit to his will and to his heart.

Gabbi Reviews: Out of the Past by Sean Michael

Title: Out of the Past

Publisher: Dreamspinner Press
Pages: 60
Characters: Andy Johnson, Steven Billings
POV: 3rd
Sub-Genre: Contemporary Romance
Kisses: 4.5

Blurb:

2nd Edition

Ten years after a terrible car accident left carpenter Andy Johnson dead, Steven Billings has yet to move on. Though he’s put aside his art to run his family’s foundation—just like his parents always wanted—Steven has never been able to put Andy and the love they shared behind him.

Except Andy’s not dead. And after a long, agonizing recovery—alone—Andy has come to hate Steven, believing Steven abandoned him when things got tough. When a chance encounter at a bar throws them back together again, it’s like the dead have come back to life and the past has come back to haunt them both.

Review:

Admittedly, I’m a fan of Sean Michael. I’ve read many books by him and I’ve enjoyed almost all of them. I like his books because his characters are always interesting and he has easygoing, sexy storytelling ability that keeps this reader enthralled with the story he has to tell. Also, Mr. Michael can write many types of stories…from BDSM to Fantasy to Contemporary romance, so you never know what kind of journey he’s going to give you when you pick up one of his books.

Out of the Past is a sweet and sexy story about two men who once had a very intimate, loving relationship, but were torn apart by tragedy and lies. When they run into each other ten years later, they quickly realize they’ve been deceived and the old, loving feelings they have for each other quickly surfaces again.

I really liked this story because of Steven determination to have Andy back into his life. Steven is a go-getter. Once he sets his eyes on something he wants, he doesn’t hesitate. It’s because of this determination that Andy is able to forgive him and deal with the past, as well as, look forward to having a future with the love of his life.

Andy is also a sympathetic character. Because of what he’s been through, I truly felt sorry for him. BUT, having said this, I also admired his strength and determination to achieve everything he did. He and Steven have a chemistry together that will not be denied and I highly enjoyed watching these two characters come together and find love again. I do wish the book had been longer. I would have loved to see them work through all of the obstacles I know they had to deal with, but for a short story, Out of the Past is definitely a satisfying read.

If you are in the mood for a quick, sexy read then Out of the Past is definitely the book for you. There is so much heat between the two men that is the perfect read to keep you warm on a cold, rainy day.

Sentimental Sunday-Second Sight by Sean Michael

Second Sight by Sean Michael is one of my go-to books when I’m in the mood for something sweet and sexy to read. One of the things that really speaks to me as a reader is the relationship between Pablo and Marc. I loved how much both of these characters really go through a lot of growth and change as the years go on. There are many good times, as well as, very tender and sad times they experience as their relationship progresses. Also, Marc loses his eyesight and there is a long separation they have which just about kills me every time I read it.

Despite the ups and downs that this couple has, Second Sight is truly a beautiful story. It’s one of my all-time favorites and will continuously be a book I’ll reach for time and time again. If you haven’t read this book, please check it out. You won’t be disappointed.

Please note: I couldn’t find the book under the previous publisher. I hope Mr. Michael will re-publish this one soon. All of the information, including the cover art was pulled up from another website. The book was originally published in 2004 through Torquere Press.

Review:

I love to read a good book that just flows, this one is a delightful love story of two sexy men that just fit together.

I love the sense of humor that both Dex and Kent have and found myself grinning through most of this book and their sexy time wasn’t too bad either.

I really liked this book and recommend it for a lovely, sweet read.

Bus Stories by Sean Michael

Title: Bus Stories
Authors: Sean Michael
Publisher: Torquere Press
Pages: 54
Characters: Benny, Jonathon
POV: 3rd
Sub-Genre: Contemporary Romance
Kisses: 4

Blurb:

Jonathon and Benny get on the bus separately, but are clearly together as Benny wears a tattoo on his neck that is the exact match for Jonathon’s scarring. What follows are six short stories that each explore a different tale of why they got on the bus and where they go from there.

Review:

Bus Stories by Sean Michael is a series of short stories about the same couple, Benny and Jonathon. In each story we get to see how their relationship progresses and all stories have them riding on a bus to their destination.

I really liked these stories. First, I really enjoyed this couple. Jonathon is a serious character, He works hard and struggles to make ends meet. On the other hand, Benny, is more of a pan-handler who would rather skate on his skateboard than hold down a job. Benny has an innocence to him in which I really liked. He also has a tendency, okay MORE than a tendency to get into to trouble and Jonathon bails him out time and time again.

I liked the dynamics between them and the strong emotional and physical pull they had together. These were quick reads and on each story, I really hoped they’d continue to work through all of the things life threw their way to find their happy ending.

Because these stories were originally on an anthology, there are spaces of time between each one. This left me wanting more. I do wish it had been one story instead of several. In some ways I felt lost, especially in the last one, and it kept Benny and Jonathon’s story from flowing smoothly. BUT I still enjoyed reading about them, I just wish there had been more about them.

Bus Stories is a sexy, quick read any fan of Sean Michael will enjoy reading. I loved this couple and really liked the back-story and inspiration Mr. Michael had when he created them. (It’s in the acknowledgement) What they have is sweet together and I couldn’t help but wish for more.

Guarding January by Sean Michael

Title: Guarding January
Publisher: Dreamspinner Press
Author: Sean Michael
Pages: 230
Kisses: 5

Blurb:

Lord January is at the top of the charts, only comes out at night, and is usually covered in blood. Say what you will, but the man knows how to put on a great show. But when the Vampire King is let out of rehab, the last thing he expects is someone forcing him to eat real food, hang out in the sun, and generally be a human being.

Rye Sommers, the best bodyguard in the business, has been hired to babysit a rock star whose biggest threat surprisingly isn’t all the hard drugs, desperate groupies, and crazy fans—it’s Lord January himself. But the closer Rye gets, the more LJ turns into sweet, gentle, caring Jeff Smart. He may still be the super-skinny, pierced and inked genius Lord January, but he is slowly shaking his death wish as he sheds the loneliness and exhaustion his stage persona saddled him with.

But as Rye falls in love with the real Jeff, he finds himself in over his head. He knows he can keep Lord January away from the drugs and the groupies, but saving Jeff might force Jeff to choose between his career as Lord January and his very life.

Review:

Guarding January is a contemporary romance set within the rock music world. The author does a good job creating this story and it is easy to see the gritty world in which it takes place. The main characters are very interesting and pull you into their story from the beginning.

Jeff is the lead singer in a hard rock group and he takes the old saying, “Sex, Drugs and Rock n Roll”, seriously. So seriously in fact he ends up in rehab and is afraid to leave the center when his time is up and return to his Lord January role. Rye is the body guard hired to make sure Jeff does not slide back to his old ways. While it is a role he takes seriously, Rye has a hard time understanding the world he seems to find himself in.

Even with the differences between the two men it is easy to see the chemistry that exists between them. I loved watching the journey that they take as they go from acquaintances to friends and then lovers. The two of them have more than the usual obstacles to overcome as their relationship progresses. While I had no worries about where the men were going, it was the many outside forces that left me worried and more than a couple of times I wondered if Jeff would slide back to his old ways.

There are some twists will surprise the readers and at times I found myself close to tears, something not unusual when it comes to stories by Mr. Michael. Guarding January is a great story to start with if you have not yet read anything by this author. It is also a great book for those who love rockers as the author does a wonderful job with this one.
