Sometimes you have to step out of your comfort zone to find happiness.

Kin always knew his job as an enforcer wouldn’t last forever. His mother is planning his marriage, to a woman she’ll choose to help advance their family name and fortune. The only way he has out of it is finding his mate, but there’s no quick or easy way to do that.

Saul has thought himself crazy for most of the past ten years. He sees half-transparent animal faces layered on some people’s human faces, and he voluntarily walked into a psychiatric hospital when he was twenty-three. Now he’s thirty-four, and he feels like he missed out on life. When his sister pushes him into leaving the hospital, he hesitates, but she won’t take no for an answer, no matter how much their parents pay Saul’s doctor to keep him there.

When Kin and his team are sent to make sure Saul gets out without any problems, Kin expects the mission to be routine. Instead, he knows Saul is his mate as soon as they meet. Will Saul finally manage to walk out of the hospital? And is Saul really crazy, or is there an explanation for what he can see?

To my knowledge, I haven’t read a book about a crocodile shifter. So, when I read the blurb and noticed that Kin is about a crocodile shifter, I was anxious to read it.

I was immediately swept up into the storyline of Kin. Between Kin being an unique shifter and Saul having his own special abilities, I found this book to have more of a fresh take on a well-loves shifter story. Kin and Saul are a good couple. I liked the way they support the other and strive to bring each other up, even when the other man feels down on himself in some way.

I wish there had been more page time with Kin and Saul together…I really liked them that much, but the time we do get to spend with this couple was a memorable one for me.

The backstory in this series is becoming more solid as the stories continue. I am really enjoying the build-up and world building Ms. Lievens has created and I am truly beginning to look forward to reading the next book in the series.

One of the great things about this couple and this series is the sheer respect and camaraderie these characters share between them. These characters all bring something special to each of the stories and the Council Enforcer books have quickly become an addictive series for me to read.
