A Wrench Wars Story

Everyone at Jim Irving’s garage is gung ho about Wrench Wars, a new reality show featuring mechanics. Everyone, that is, except talented mechanic Chandler Scott, the sole employee who has refused to sign the contract. The rest of the mechanics are pressuring him too, because without Chandler—and his volatile interactions with his boss—no one’s getting on the show.

Chandler’s one ally is Jim’s son, Mark, who’s being forced to work for his dad until he pays down his student loans or finds a better job—and who’s been Chandler’s secret lover for a while.

Then a playful tryst in the garage blows up in their faces, giving the network ammo to blackmail Chandler by threatening to out Mark to his father. Now Chandler is backed into a corner, and Mark needs to decide how far he’s willing to go to protect the man who’s been sharing his bed… and may have stolen his heart.

Review:

Last Mechanic Standing is first book in the Wrench Wars series and after reading this little gem of a story, I can’t wait until the next book is released.

I really enjoyed the heated chemistry between the two main characters. Both Mark and Chandler are honorable, likeable men who find themselves in a sticky situation that they can’t a way out of. Mark is plagued by student loans and living with a homophobic father and Chandler is forced to sign on to a reality show he really doesn’t want to do, but will to help Mark out.

I really enjoyed the premise of this story. My husband is a fan of these types of reality shows, so I enjoyed the world the author created in this novella. It’s an easy story to relate to and one I really enjoyed.

I also enjoyed the way Chandler and Mark’s relationship developed as the story continued. I thought the author did a real good job at making me wonder what was going to happen next and how both men would come out of an uncomfortable situation unscathed.

If you are looking for a quick and sexy read with well-developed characters and a fast paced storyline, Last Mechanic Standing is definitely the book for you.
