Known as the famed adult star, Cody Starr, Christian Larson is a young man looking for love and stability, and he wants it from Finn Madigan, but they must overcome the challenges of Christian’s career if they’re to be together.

Cody Starr is one of the most popular actors in gay adult films. Young, beautiful, charismatic, when he’s on screen, he shines. But Cody Starr is a stage name, a persona, and the real man, Christian Larson, isn’t as enthusiastic about his adult career anymore. The problem is, Christian fears if he stops being Cody, he could end up homeless…again. He came to Hollywood with big dreams and lost them all, even the one of finding someone to love him.

Finn Madigan is an Army veteran who has a warrior’s soul and a hero’s heart. He makes his living protecting people. When he meets Christian, he sees a young man who needs someone who can be there for him. He’s hesitant to begin an intimate relationship with Christian, but at the same time, he’s helpless to resist him.

Passion, desire, and emotion are strong between Finn and Christian, but they will they be enough to overcome the challenges of Christian’s career?

(Please note this is a re-release of a previously published work.)

Review:

Kissing Cody Starr by SJ Frost is re-release and a much loved favorite book of mine. I first discovered this book over a year ago and I shamelessly admit that it continues to be a staple in my reading wardrobe. When I am in the mood for a romantic, sexy and well-balanced read this is a book I will read over and over. Any time I need a pick-me-up, Kissing Cody Starr is a book I reach for and it never fails to brighten my spirits and bring a much needed smile on my face.

When it comes to reading books by SJ Frost, I somehow didn’t discover this amazing author until last year. Since then, I’ve read almost all of her books and I’ve honestly enjoyed each and every one of them. Ms. Frost has a true talent of writing characters that are both flawed and realistically written, yet they experience a lot of self-growth as their story develops. As her couples continue to get to know each other, they blossom into having a beautiful relationship together. As a reader, I also appreciate that no matter what life throws their way, they strive to work together through any obstacle and they end up coming together with an even stronger love.

One of the things I loved about this book is how Christian “Cody” truly comes into his own man. Christian has been working in the adult industry for years. At seventeen, he was homeless and didn’t know when he’s able to have his next meal. When he was approached to do an adult movie, fear and desperation causes him to agree and soon he is wrapped up into becoming Cody Starr.

It’s Cody that puts meals into Christian’s mouth and a roof over his head. As the years pass, Christian never forgets who he is. Although in some ways he will always be Cody, Christian still longs for more out of life. He wants to break away from the adult industry and even one day fall in love with an amazing man, but Christian fears this is something that will never be.

When Christian meets Finn, he is immediately drawn to him. To his surprise, Finn shows no interest in him and although this hurts his ego a little, he still can’t help but wish someone as smart and sexy as Finn could ever want to have something special with a porn star like him.

Finn is a military hero who was injured overseas. When he returns to the states, his sterling reputation as a soldier quickly gives him the opportunity to become a bodyguard to celebrities. This quickly takes off and soon he has a successful company that he loves. When he is badgered into accompanying a friend to a strip show that features some famous porn stars, Finn honestly is counting down the minutes until he can leave. Just when he’s about to call it a night, the sexy Cody Starr begins to perform and he can’t help but become immediately drawn *and turned on* by the younger man’s performance.

When Cody’s performance ends, his admiration for the porn star fades as he watches Cody interact with others. Cody seems to be full of himself and it’s the performer’s haughty attitude that turns Finn off. Just when he’s about to leave, he is approached by Cody and surprised by Cody’s boldness to spend time with him. Although he is flattered, Finn doesn’t want to get involved with a porn star. He’s a one-man’s-man and one night stands just isn’t his thing. But when Cody finds himself in danger, Finn comes to the rescue and he quickly begins to see the warm and wonderful person Cody is inside.

I truly enjoyed watching Finn war with the fear of becoming involved with a porn star. Will he be able to cope with Cody’s profession or will he not take a chance in finding the love of his life he, himself has always longed for?

I loved this book. Watching these two amazing heroes learn to respect each other and fall in love was a beautiful thing to see. If you love romantic tales full of light angst and sweet and sexy romance, then Kissing Cody Starr by SJ Frost is definitely the book for you!

As I mentioned before this is a re-release and I have the honor of having both copies. In all honesty, I liked this second release by MLR Press more because of it seemed to be a tighter read. If you already have the original, buy the second edition. AND if you haven’t read this gem of a story, give yourself a treat and give Kissing Cody Starr and this amazing author a try.

Highly Recommended!
