Two dudes walk into a bookstore…

Tristan knows he’s got issues. His latest ex-girlfriend knows it too. He can’t blame her for dumping him—even though she gets her brother to do it for her. Since he can’t stop staring at said brother’s package, he figures it’s about time to put a label on those issues. He likes guys.

He heads to a local bookstore with what he’s sure is a foolproof plan to find someone to show him what he’s been missing. But who should crash his little adventure? Officer Michael Truax, who gave him a really expensive ticket back in high school for skateboarding without a helmet.

Michael has been trying to catch Tristan for years…to give him a second ticket. Suddenly faced with “Sparky”, all grown up and looking to get laid, Michael’s protective instinct kicks in—and presents him with an opportunity that’s hard to resist. After all, the kid must know what he’s getting into, so why not?

But when a man with a plan connects with a man with a hunger, the result is nothing short of explosive.

Contains high-octane hair, a clawfoot bathtub, and a story that will make you believe in love at first sight. Okay, second sight, but who’s counting?

Review:

I have to admit that Crossing Borders has always been one of my favorite reads. I loved it the first time I read it years ago and it’s been a story I’ll revisit at least once a year. When I saw that it’s going to be re-released, I knew I had to read it again and I was thrilled to see that it will introduce new readers to Tristan and Michael’s story. I know they will love them as much as I have over the years.

As a whole, this book has been unchanged but it still as compelling and as thought-provoking as the first time I read it. I’ve always loved the complexity of Tristan and Michael’s story. This book shows that love isn’t always an easy ride. There are many bumps along the way and to stay together and in love, it often takes a lot of work and dedication and self-sacrifices along the way.

Tristan is a young man. He admits he’s a thrill junkie and loves to push himself to the limits. His zest for life, as well as, his big heart and openness to try new things really makes him attractive in more ways than one. Although he is an adult, he still has a lot of growing up to do. When he begins a relationship with the older Michael, Tristan’s immediate intention was not for them to become a forever couple. He basically wants to explore his sexuality, but as he gets to know Michael and enjoys the feelings they share between them, he soon finds himself in a serious relationship that he both loves but is also confused by. You see, he isn’t sure he’s ready to commit to one person for the rest of his life, but Michael’s love and acceptance is something he also loves counting on. Tristan also knows that the love they share is something special but he’s honestly not sure if he is ready to have such a commitment in his life.

On the other hand, Michael is a solid, responsible man. In many ways, he’s always lived his life by playing by the rules. When he sees something he wants, he goes for it with everything within his power to have it. He’s successful, smart and very sexy. When he and Tristan get together he knows he wants to keep the younger man in his life forever, but he also realizes Tristan is young so giving his heart to him will be a gamble.

When Michael is critically injured, Tristan steps up and nurses him back to health. Through Tristan’s devotion and love Michael soon begins to heal. But, Tristan still longs to live his life on the edge before he fully settles down and soon they both must make some hard sacrifices if they want to stay together.

I love this book! It is so well-written you will immediately be wrapped up into these characters’ lives. Both men go through a lot of self-growth and have to reevaluate what is truly the most important to them. The love they share between them is a strong and beautiful one and will live within your heart long after you finish their story.

Crossing Borders is a beautifully told story that is not to be missed. It will have a favorite place on my bookshelf and will always be a story I’ll revisit again and again. If you love a though-provoking romance between two well-written heroes that you, yourself will fall in love with then Crossing Borders by ZA Maxfield is definitely the book for you.

Highly Recommended!
