Months after being forced to leave his lover and mate Ari Jannsen behind, Hunter Devin settles into his role as Enforcer for the newly formed Deagan Clan under the rule of his new Alpha and best friend Tristan “Trip” Hagan. Along with Hunter’s brother Boone, their nephews, sister, and mother, Hunter finally has the family he’s always wanted, but without his little rebel Ari, his heart is incomplete.

The Hagan Clan is unable to accept the Deagan Clan’s betrayal for walking away and taking the clan’s pups with them. War looms. As both clans plan their attack, a greater enemy plots against them. But Hunter is determined to get his Ari back. Bonds are put to the test and unexpected alliances are made as Hunter and his clan set out to protect their own and end the spreading heartache.

Review:

Healing Hunter’s Heart is the second book in the A Little Bite of Love series. The first book in this shifter series was published by the author in Don’t Read in the Closet. A link for the first book can be found on the author’s website.

When this story starts we find Hunter trying to settle into his new pack position, enforcer. The problem is that inorder for Hunter and several others to escape their former pack Hunter had to leave his mate, Ari behind. Hunter hopes that one day soon he will be able to retrieve his mate and until then he has to suffer the consequences. But things turn for the worse first then anyone sees coming and soon Hunter has no choice but to find Ari, who has an assassin pack on his trail.

I loved the way the author brought these two back together again. The connection between Hunter and Ari is strong and at times both men had me close to tears. The chemistry between them really heats up the pages as the author knows how to bring the passion between them out in a way that seems realistic.

There is a lot going on in this story and the readers will find themselves waiting to see what will happen next. There are also a variety of interesting secondary characters in this book and I can’t wait to see who will show up in the next installment.

Healing Hunter’s Heart is a well done shifter story that is sure to become a favorite amongst those who love this sub-genre. I do recommend that readers read book one first as it lays the ground work for this series and without it readers may seem lost.
