Title: Games We Play
Author: Zayne Michaels
Publisher: Evernight Publishing
Characters: Remy, Colt
Sub-Genre: Contemporary, Erotic Romance
Entering the small bar on the side of the highway, Remy didn’t harbor high expectations for the night, not until he notices the most gorgeous man in the place checking him out from across the room. Casual hookups in dark alleys aren’t his style, but he knows he’d be a fool to pass up such an opportunity.
From the moment the blond beauty stepped into the room, Colt had to have him, even if just for the night. Their parking lot tryst gets off to a sizzling start, especially when Colt realizes the barfly enjoys a firmer hand. It’s just a one night stand, though. What does it matter if he can’t remember the man’s name?
Unfortunately for him, it matters a lot to Remy, and Colt’s one-time fling is about to become much more than he expected.
Strangers hooking up at a bar. A familiar, titillating opening for a sexy story. Only things aren’t always what they seem at first glance.
For the surprise twist in the story, I give this a thumbs up for creative effort. In fact, I think the idea of playing enticing games like these might have made for an exciting longer novel. Especially when jealousy rears its ugly head, breaking up the mood and the scene. It’s hard to tell what the story is really about without giving too much away.
I liked the dialogue and interplay between Remy and Colt. Their relationship had a sort of realism that was easy to relate to. Love can be such a complex thing. The plot moves at a swift pace, there’s an actual story here, and the writing reflects the efficiency of the length and the heat of sexual prowess and the prowl.
I liked this one quite a bit. Recommended for a hot quickie with a few twists and a couple of stubborn personalities. You’ll have to read this for yourself to figure out what I mean.
