Title: You’re Welcome. Love, Your Cat
Author: Clancy Nacht, Thursday Euclid
Publisher: Loose Id.
Characters: Edwin Blais, Forrest James
Sub-Genre: Contemporary Romance
Since vowing celibacy over a decade ago, history professor and classic car aficionado Edwin Blais’s only comfort has been his dead partner’s cat, Francesca. When she gets lost, Edwin’s beside himself…until he meets the man who found her.
Cat-lover and mechanic Forrest James is a Roman sculpture brought to life, old enough to run a successful garage but not old enough to forget the secrets of a painful childhood.
Edwin’s lonely, and a straight man poses no threat to his vow. Soon he’s going to the garage every night after class. Forrest’s quiet friendship is healing Edwin’s broken heart until a night of mind-blowing sex changes everything. Edwin can’t deny his growing feelings, but a relationship between them seems impossible.
After Edwin uncovers the mysteries behind Forrest’s tough exterior, he’s forced to choose between a lost love and an unexpectedly tender new love who needs Edwin more than he ever could have guessed. Only by dealing with their tragic pasts can either forge a future. Will they find a way to do together what neither could do alone?
I love the writing team of Clancy Nacht and Thursday Euclid. They are authors that I follow and when they release something new, I’m guilty of dropping everything and immediately reading their book. I love the way they seem to really know their characters and enjoy the emotional and physical chemistry they have together.
What I really loved about this book was the way the relationship between the main heroes gradually progressed. I truly believed that these two men developed a strong friendship that eventually led to love. I also enjoyed how both of them really worked at finding a common ground together as well as really working hard to fit into each other’s lives.
Ever since his partner died in a tragic accident Edwin made a vow to keep true to his dead partner. He has been going through the motions of life, refusing to open up to others and preferring the company of his cat instead of meeting new people and going out to enjoy life. But when his cat runs away, Edwin is practically crippled from the loss of him. He immediately puts out reward posters, but his fear of never seeing his feline friend haunts him. Lucky for him, his cat is found by easy-going and the very sexy Forrest and the two lonely men immediately hit it off and become friends.
This is a very sweet and sexy romance that I truly loved. I enjoyed watching Edwin begin to blossom under Forrest’s friendship. He begins to open himself up to others and began caring about living his life to the fullest, instead of closing himself off to the world. I also loved Forrest. He’s a simple man with basic needs and the love he has for Edwin is truly a beautiful one.
You’re Welcome. Love, Your Cat is a highly addictive read about learning to take chances again once you’ve lost someone special. I enjoyed every minute I spent reading this book and couldn’t help but wish for more once I had finished reading it. It’s definitely earned a spot on my keeper shelf and I look forward to re-reading it in the future.
