Piper is a ballet dancer who has lost his footing—literally. Now his dreams are shot and he’s depressed enough that his best friend, Sage, lures him into a night of drinking and games. Except the game is truth or dare, and they end up doing less drinking and more confessing. Hidden secrets spill out and brazen acts draw the two men closer as they discover what really matters: if they’re winners or losers in the game of love.

Review:

Susan Laine is one of my go-to authors when I’m in the mood for a sexy, sweet and character driven novel. I’ve read just about all of her books, and I’ve enjoyed every one of them. Ms. Laine has a knack of writing empathetic, well-written and likeable characters that really live and breathe off of the written page.

Due to an injury, Piper has realized that he’s lost his dream of being a ballet dancer. Depressed and confused as to what to do next, he relies on his best friend, Sage, both for guidance and moral support. Deciding they need well deserved night of drinking and relaxing, for fun they start an impromptu game of Truth or Dare. What starts out as a harmless game, soon heats up between them and both men are soon faced with the hidden feelings and attraction that sizzles between them. As the night progresses, there are also some life choices and things both men must face if they want to take their relationship to the next step.

I really loved this book. For a short story, it really packs an emotional punch. I immediately felt for Piper. The loss of his dream is definitely starting to take a toll on him. He is confused, depressed and unsure of what he’s going to in his future. I really loved how Sage stepped in and was there for him. Their relationship is a deep one. It’s full of respect, friendship, honesty and the love between them is deeper than either man realizes. Watching these two men sort out their feelings was a highly enjoyable experience for me and I relished every moment these two men together in the book.

If you are looking for a quick, well-written friends-to-lovers romance then Sage Advice is definitely a book for you! The characters are easy to root for and the story will leave you with a satisfied smile on your face. I enjoyed it so much I hated to see it come to an end, but I still loved the small glimpse of the lives of these two amazing men Ms. Laine gave me.

Highly Recommended!
