Angela has put her dreams of living an out and proud life as a transgender man on hold because of her husband, who can’t understand. But a chance encounter at a bar changes everything. Rocky sees Drake for the brown eyed handsome man he is, not the plumbing between his legs. Can Rocky convince Angela to let go of her fears and embrace life as Drake?

This is the first book I’ve read by DC Juris and it definitely won’t be my last. I haven’t had the privilege of reading many transgendered romances, and I was lucky enough to be able to read and review this book. Mr. Juris does an excellent job at describing the fear and insecurities that Drake has at being a female to male transgendered hero. One of the things I really loved about this book was: Mr. Juris really gets to the heart and soul of his characters. I thought both Drake and Rocky were realistically written (especially Drake) and both men seemed to live and breathe off of the written page.

Angela is an unhappy woman. She’s had to put her feelings and need to live as a man on hold. Her husband doesn’t understand her need to live as a man, instead he chooses to believe that she’s going through some kind of phase, causing Angela to feel depressed over not being loved and appreciated for who she really is.

As an outlet, Angela goes to a gay bar as Drake. As Drake he feels better and more at ease living in his skin, even though he still has anxieties over transitioning and being looked at as a real man. Just as Drake decides to leave, he meets the handsome and understanding Rocky who seems to really accept and want Drake for who he is. But, Drake lives a complicated life. Will Drake be able to work through them to have a shot at happiness with the sexy Rocky?

I wish this book has been longer. I would have loved to have watched Drake really evolve into being more confident in his own skin. The great thing is, Drake is starting to get there and it was a pleasure to see Rocky appreciate him for the man is already is and will come to be.

I’m looking forward to reading more by Mr. Juris, and will definitely be watching for more books by him in the future. His ability to grab this reader’s attention and make me care about his characters in a short amount of time, speaks of his talent and sensitivity as a writer. Recommended!
