Help! There’s a lion in my living room.

Ever since becoming Monsters inK’s lawyer, Ray O’Connor has kept secrets. Forget that his clients aren’t human, his worst fear would be the discovery that he writes erotic romances. But when a winged lion invades his home, Ray’s life goes to hell. Tajan is a cat-cop. His mission to rescue his brother becomes complicated the moment he sets his paws down on the savage planet called Earth and is confronted by Ray, a sexy man who ignores his own nature, because of past hurts. Beneath Ray’s façade is a man with the heart of a lion… Taj has many weapons at his disposal to draw forth the cat, not least of which is seduction. Ray doesn’t stand a chance.

This is the first book I’ve read by Astrid Cooper and it won’t be my last! I admit when I was requested to read and review this book, I didn’t realize it was part of a series, so I was a little worried if I would be lost when I started reading this book. Lucky for me, Fangs for the Memories is so much fun and well-written, that I didn’t feel confused in any way because I hadn’t read the other books. But after reading this one, you can bet I’ll be backtracking and reading the rest of the books in the series.

Since the blurb does an excellent job at describing the book itself, I won’t rehash it. Instead I thought I would write about why I really enjoyed this book and look forward to reading the other books in the series.

I really liked both heroes a lot. I appreciated that there really was more to both of them that meets the eye. Ray is a little uptight and hides the fact he writes erotic romances. He’s a hard worker and often puts others before himself. When Taj shows up on his doorstep, it throws his life into a whirlwind of intrigue and confusion. There is something about Taj that really speaks to Ray, and soon he knows he can’t fight the attraction and emotional connection that has formed between them.

As much as I liked Ray, I loved Taj! For a lion shifter with big ol’ wings on his back, he’s very sexy! I loved his self-confidence and his take charge attitude. He had a way about him that really commanded me attention and I adored the kinship and camaraderie he willingly gives to Ray, even though both men were leery of each other when they first met. Also, the sexual tension and chemistry between the two heroes was off the charts! I loved these two together and rejoiced when Ray finally realizes that sexy Taj is true love he’s always hoped he have.

I also enjoyed meeting the secondary characters in the book. I appreciated the friendship and affection they have between them. It was easy to care about all of these characters and enjoy reading what was going on in their lives. I’m looking forward to reading all of the books in this series and seeing their own individual stories as much as upcoming ones as well. Each character had their own interesting personality, and it’ll be fun seeing how everything got started and have come together as it has in the series so far.

The story itself gripped me quickly and moved at a fast, even pace. I appreciated the author’s creative storytelling ability and knack of really knowing her characters inside and out. Fangs for the Memories will be a guilty pleasure for those who love paranormal/fantasy romances with a creative plot and sexy characters. It’s the perfect afternoon read on a lazy day and I highly recommend it!

Thank you so very much for your thoughtful, insightful review. I’m not just saying that because you gave me a 5 star rating! I “love” my characters and always aim for that special HEA ending. Taj is a hunk isn’t he? His only “fault” is that he doesn’t like “vegemite” (an Aussie delicacy). “Ray” holds a special place for me – poor guy having to hide the fact he writes erotic romance. But he comes ‘out’ in more ways than one in the story. Thanks, again, so very much for taking the time to read and review my book, I am thrilled to learn you enjoyed it. Best wishes, Astrid (Astrid Cooper).
