Little Boy Lost, Book Two

Jamie is gone.

Brian’s secret has been revealed.

Brian McAllister’s story continues as he tries to cope with the loss of his best friend and soul mate amid the alienation and ridicule of his classmates. When hatred turns to violence, Brian narrows his focus to two goals: surviving and finding Jamie. Along the way he meets Adam, whose life has also been shattered by violence and cruelty. Can Adam fill the hole in Brian’s life left by Jamie’s absence? The answer will change everything.

Review:

Abandoned picks up right where Enlightened left off and let me tell you, this story is one to bring the tears to your eyes and your heart. Brian is now a senior in high school and he hasn’t heard a word from the love of his life Jamie, since he moved at the start of the summer but he isn’t put out by it and that alone is enough to bring tears to your eyes. The trust and faith Brian has for Jaime is unconditional and when you read these thoughts and imagine how you’d feel, and seeing how Brian keeps trucking along you’ll fall head over for him once again.

Being outed over the summer has done irreversible damage to Brian, and while Jamie’s family sprinted him across the country to California to get away from their son’s lover, Brian is left to face the heat of his peers on his own and what this poor kid goes through about killed me. (Not literally)

Brian, bless his strong desire to be with the boy he loves, lets none of it get him down. He is a survivor, and he should have been considered a hero to those who knew him. He anxiously awaits his eighteenth birthday because he’s determined to go to CA to locate Jamie, even without knowing exactly where he is.

Abandoned is very strongly written, the scene setting, the verbiage, the plot, all of it very well done. I could find nothing wrong within these pages of this strong YA novel.

J.P. you are to be commended on writing Brian’s story, it moved me to tears a couple times and I wanted to reach out and take his boy in my arms and keep him safe from the bullies of this world. I anxiously await the next installment, but please don’t make us wait too long!
