Once upon a time, he had a last name and a pulse—and he was straight. But Marcus Desarno meets his demise in an explosion of broken glass and twisted metal, and when he wakes up, he’s a blood-sucking, sexually ambiguous, card-carrying member of Green’s Hill, the northern California refuge for the fey, the terminally furry, and the undead. It’s a tough transition, but gentle Marcus eventually finds contentment serving Green and his consort Adrian.
Then Marcus meets arrogant, vain, and competitive Phillip and feels compelled to make him a vampire to save his irritating life. Now Marcus has an unwanted roommate and a crush that won’t quit, and Phillip has the motive, means, and libido to bang anything with or without a pulse in a three-hundred mile radius. It’s a good thing vampires live forever, because it might just take that long for Marcus to convince the love of his unlife that gender lines are for the living and that the person driving you crazy might be the one your heart would beat for—if it could beat at all.
Can love conquer all?
Review:
Amy Lane has once again brought us a story revolving around Green’s Hill that both enchants and leaves me wanting more. I Love You, Asshole is one of these books.
Marcus is a teacher who meets his untimely end in a car accident. Adrian, a vampire, is second in command at Green’s Hill and he is first at the scene of the accident. Sometimes you cannot die around a vampire and remain dead forever.
One faithful evening while skiing on vacation Marcus meets Phillip on the slopes. Phillip is a carefree skier that challenges Marcus on the toughest runs, and he is also the first person that Marcus has met that attracts him like no other. An avalanche disrupts their skiing and will end Phillip’s life unless Marcus takes that extra step and changes him.
Phillip is brought back to Green’s Hill to live with all of the vampires and his first month in confinement is very troubling. As a new vampire the urge to drink blood is uncontrollable and can often lead to death if it is not strictly monitored. Marcus must help Phillip adjust to his new life as a vampire and all that it entails.
Marcus falls hard for his new friend and as his roommate he sees how Phillip is adjusting to life on Green’s Hill. Phillip is sleeping with every woman he can, and it is slowly breaking Marcus’s heart.
Amy Lane keeps bringing new life in to the Little Goddess series and I am happy that she is expanding the backdrop of the main story. This story is a pleasure to read and a happy ending brings it all together.
