Tending to Rose by Sean Michael

Title: Rose and Thorne, Book 2: Tending to Rose
Author: Sean Michael
Publisher: Changeling Press
Pages: 63
Characters: Rose, Thorne
POV: 3rd
Sub-Genre: Contemporary Romance, Light BDSM
Kisses: 4.5

Blurb:

Rose and Thorne are back, taking their relationship to the next level, even if Rose thinks Thorne’s a little crazy for the lifestyle he wants to lead.

As Rose gears up for competitive bodybuilding, Thorne worries about what Rose is doing to his body. When Rose passes out after the competition, Thorne knows he’s right to worry and he’s determined to make sure Rose never does anything like it again.

Rose wants to contribute, though, especially when he finds out Thorne wants to open his own tattoo and piercing parlor. Can Thorne convince his lover that Rose is worth more to him than any purse Rose could win, and that what they do in the bedroom is not only not weird, but nobody’s business but their own?

Review:

If you’re like me and loved the first book in the Rose and Thorne series, you’ll enjoy Tending to Rose just as much!

The story picks up with Rose preparing for a competitive bodybuilder competition. So far, he and Thorne’s relationship has continued to thrive and progress and the men are totally in love with each other. But Thorne is surprised when he sees how much Rose has to suffer to compete and because Rose is literally starving himself to achieve the bodybuilder look, Thorne has decided Rose needs a change.

What follows is a sweet and sexy story that I liked very much. As per the first book, I really enjoyed watching the way these two men work to fit each other into each other’s lives. Although Thorne continues to be very self-assured, poor Rose questions himself and questions whether he is worthy of Thorne’s love.

I also liked how Rose and Thorne are slowly incorporating the BDSM lifestyle together that each man really craves. Rose continues to learn and thrive under Thorne’s guidance and I loved how much Thorne not only respected Rose, but with firm and gentle prodding opens up Rose to a whole new life that he’s never expected.

Although there is a BDSM theme to the book, it’s not over the top. Those who aren’t into the genre could definitely give this book (and series) a try. Mr. Michael’s is a master storyteller and in my opinion, and in particular writes the D/s relationship extremely well.

I’ve heard there will be another book in this series, and I have to admit, I can’t wait to read it. If you are a fan of Sean Michael or haven’t read anything by this author, this book would definitely be a great way to introduce yourself to Mr. Michael’s steamy and addictive storytelling abilities.

Tending to Rose could be read as a stand-alone story, but because of the strong dynamic between the two men, I highly recommend reading these books in series order.

Pretty Boy by Ana Raine

Title: Pretty Boy
Author: Ana Raine
Publisher: Changeling Press
Pages: 54
Characters: Kai Masami, Liam Evans
POV: 3rd
Sub-Genre: Erotic Romance, BDSM, Shunga
Kisses: 3.5

Blurb:

Kai Masami always thought he wanted to go to Japan and fight for Pride, a UFC fighting branch, as a Karate fighter. That is, until he meets Liam Evans. Need for Liam leaves Kai panting madly with desire. Liam is untouchable, though.

Kai will do whatever it takes to forget about Liam — even joining a BDSM site, where he meets a man who wears an artistic fox mask and calls himself only “Master.” Who is Master and will he be dominant enough to make Kai scream into submission

Review:

I was in the mood for something different, so when I read the blurb to Pretty Boy by Ana Raine, I knew I had to read it. Ms. Raine is a new author for me and I have to say I really enjoyed her characters and storytelling ability.

What I liked about this book was the sizzling chemistry Kai and his ‘master’ had together. Although when Kai is around his masked ‘master’ he can’t help but think of Liam, whom he has feels for. Although, the book is a little predictable, I still liked the journey it took me on. It was easy to like Kai and understand why he drives himself so hard both at fighting for the UFC and for the hope of having Liam in his life. This is a quickly told tale and a hot one too. The BDSM isn’t over the top, so even those who aren’t big fans of this type of genre; it is still a good choice for them.

I do wish the book had been longer. I would have liked to have read more about Kai and Liam and see how things work out for them, but for a short, sexy read this is definitely a good option.

Sexy, interesting and with enough intrigue to satisfy most readers, Pretty Boy is a great book to read if you’re looking for an hour or so of pure escapism. I’m looking forward to reading more books by Ms. Raine in the future. Recommended!

Sword and Shield by Saloni Quinby

Title: Weapons of Redemption, Book 2: Sword and Shield
Author: Saloni Quinby
Publisher: Changeling Press
Pages: 66
Characters: Rule, Joel, Gram, Guy, Tarun
POV: 3rd Person
Sub-Genre: Contemporary, Vampires
Kisses: 4

Blurb:

Rule coped with his abduction by the vampire pirate Tarun by cutting off his emotions. After centuries of self-control through punishment, he found a man who finally reached his heart only to break up with him after a night of passion.

A secret organization of obsessed swordsmen engage in duels to the death. When Joel’s brother is murdered and Joel swears to avenge him, it’s up to Rule to save him from a vampire who uses the duels as an easy blood supply, but once he sees Joel again, will Rule be able to resist him?

Review:

This is the second entry in Saloni Quinby’s Weapons Of Redemption series; the first being Whips & Chains.

In the first episode we got introduced to the gang with a concentration on Guy and his methods of coping with his past. In this passage we get an even deeper understanding of the plight of these five tight friends while learning why Rule has such a need for discipline.

I am thoroughly enjoying how the author is slowly unfolding the past of this fellowship of troubled vampires while bringing to light specific details of each individual character, one at a time.

If you enjoy a saga that is unraveled bit by bit while the author simultaneously adds even more detail then this is a must read for you. I do, therefore, strongly recommend that you first read Whips & Chains before endeavoring into this installment; I know I’m glad that I did.

Terms of Payment by Sarah Barimen

Title: Soul Debt: Terms of Payment
Author: Sarah Barimen
Publisher: Changeling Press
Pages: 31
Characters: Jack Brannard, Darius
POV: 1st
Sub-Genre: Dark Fantasy, Erotic Romance
Kisses: 2.5

Blurb:

When Jack made a deal with the devil, he didn’t read the fine print closely enough. It was not “Payment: one soul,” but “Payments,” lots of payments. Jack doesn’t know what will happen when the last tattered shred of his soul vanishes: that’s for the Devil to know, and Jack to find out. Until then, his life is one giant meteoric shot at the moon of fame and fortune — and precisely scheduled payments, collected by a sexy demon named Darius.

Review:

If you are in the mood for a quick, erotic read Terms of Payment is definitely a book for you to consider. I liked the erotic moments between Jack and the demon, Darius. There is a heated attraction they have together that really steamed up my computer screen. But because this is a quick read, we don’t really get to learn much about either hero, and the story itself is told very fast. I wish the short had been longer. I would have liked to have really seen some character development as well as really gotten to know each hero. In the end, Terms of Payment is an interesting, hot read that I enjoyed. I’ll definitely keep a look out for more books by the author in the future.

Paid in Full by Megan Slayer

Title: Soul Debt: Paid in Full
Author: Megan Slayer
Publisher: Changeling Press
Pages: 41
Characters: Nicky, the Devil and Antonio
POV: 1st
Sub-Genre: Dark Fantasy, Paranormal, Erotic Romance
Kisses: 3.5

Blurb:

Ever danced with the Devil? I have.

You know how people make deals with God? I made one with the Devil. For what, you ask? A boyfriend. Little did I know, the Devil would not only take me up on the deal, but make it worth both our whiles — just not in the way I’d imagined. Turns out, nothing in my world is what it seemed.

Review:

Raw, uninhibited with powerful sex is what Paid in Full had plenty of. This book was so hot, even my imagination was racing to catch up at times! Nicky, the “power-bottom” loved getting fucked, and he would do pretty much any hot guy that would make him submit…including the hot neighboring couple. Little did he know that they came with a friend…

The Devil came knocking and Nicky answered, and definitely submitted! Unfortunately it came with consequences that he didn’t quite think through. Antonio was a very hot Dom, and there is little in this world I like more that seeing a big, strong Dom submit. My imagination was going crazy for this scene. Paid in Full is definitely a hot read, and it left me craving for more! If you are looking for a hot, erotic romance this book is definitely for you.

Leaf by Sean Michael

Title: Shibari House: Leaf
Author: Sean Michael
Publisher: Changeling Press
Pages: 49
Characters: Leaf, James
POV: 3rd
Sub-Genre: Erotic Romance, BDSM, Series
Kisses: 4.25

Blurb:

When River calls his twin Leaf and says “Brother, I’m in trouble,” Leaf does the same thing he always does — he comes to River’s rescue. Leaf’s twin is thrilled he showed up, and quickly takes his clothes, tells him he’s going to have a great time and leaves Leaf to be auctioned off at the Shibari Auction House in his place.

Not quite sure what River has gotten him into this time, Leaf is stunned to find himself auctioned off for seventy-five thousand dollars. Not sure exactly what’s expected of him, he tells the man who won him the truth and finds himself treated more than fairly by James, the man who bought a week of his time.

Has River left Leaf holding the bag? Or has River inadvertently granted Leaf fantasies he didn’t even know he had?

Review:

The Shibari House books are a hot, sexy series by Sean Michael. I’ve read every one of the novellas in the series and enjoyed them all.

Leaf is used to bailing his twin brother River out of sticky situations. So when River calls him for help, he believes it’s just one more thing he’ll have to do to help his brother out. But when he arrives at this strange, but pristine place and River tells him he’s going back to his boyfriend, and that Leaf must take his place at the auction block, Leaf is both overwhelmed and confused. Before he knows it, his brother has left and Leaf finds himself stripped down and on auction for spending some personal time with the highest bidder. Just when Leaf is about to call it off, he hears the winning bid for him is quite high and changes his mind. Leaf could use the money and tells himself it’s just for a few days, so what harm could it be?

What Leaf isn’t prepared for is how attractive the man, James, is who has bought him. Plus, he’s guilt ridden over the deception and finds himself wanting to come clean over his and River’s deceit. Now he wonders what James will do once he’s told he’s not the man James has bid on and he begins to hope the handsome, interesting man will still want him for himself.

Whew! What a sexy, quick read this book was! Leaf is such a sweet man and watching him open up and become appreciate for who he is by James made this gem of a story really enjoyable for me. I liked watching James introduce Leaf to a whole new world of BDSM and thought they were very good together. As with the other Shibari books, I wish this book had been longer. Just when I became enthralled with these two men, boom, the story was over, and even though it was short, I still loved it.

Sexy, hot and a whole lot of fun, Leaf is one of my favorite books in the series. I loved these two men together and enjoyed every minute of this story. This would also be a great series to consider if you don’t like to read heavy D/s relationships or want to give BDSM themed books a try. They are on the more sweet, sexy side than some of the darker, more intense relationships that can between two D/s men. If you are looking for a book with some sexy men, sizzling sex and witnessing what looks to be the beginning of a beautiful relationship, then Leaf is definitely the book for you! Recommended!

The Shibari House
books can easily be read as stand-alone books. They are all fun, sexy stories that I’ve enjoyed and look forward to reading the next book in the series. The books in series order are:

Jack
Alec
Ben
Leaf

A Very Good Thing by Kate Douglas

Title: A Very Good Thing
Author: Kate Douglas
Publisher: Changeling Press
Pages: 24
Characters: Caj and Marc
POV: 1st
Sub-Genre: Erotic Romance
Kisses: 3

Blurb:

Caj is merely looking for a clean break from a bad marriage when he approaches a gay man in a bar and asks him to pretend to be his lover. Except Marc’s not necessarily gay. He is, however, open minded and definitely open to adventure.

Caj –who’s actually as straight as they come — has all the earmarks of an adventure in the making. One hot and heavy kiss later, both Caj and Marc are looking at each other in an entirely new light, seeing possibilities far beyond that brief encounter of the sexual kind. They’re looking for a Very Good Thing.

Review:

HOT HOT HOT! I think that about sums it up. The passion and the steamy sex scenes in A Very Good Thing, are enough to want to make you read this book again and again!

I liked how the story moved. It was fast paced, but still took the time to explain feeling and emotions. I could only wish that my first time was as erotic and sexy as theirs, Damn! I loved the story line and the characters, with it being a shorter story I was very impressed with the amount of detail. Great story.

What do they have in common? More money, power, and connections than most people can even fathom. These young men consider themselves above the law. Tonight the brothers have their sights set on a sexy redhead — and they’re determined to have him in their bed!

Chaus is an ancient vampire as cold as his deadly kiss. Driven by a taste for kink, he’s searched for centuries to find someone as debauched and sinful as he is, only to be continuously disappointed by humans and nonhumans alike. One desire drives him: a pet to call his mate that he can torture and pleasure with his lethal desires. His hunt has brought him to Night Moves, and he’s on the prowl.

Jordan and Allen are out for fun, and they place a bet on a deadly game. But they’re playing with a predator — and a dark, hidden secret that the brothers possess will be the catalyst that brings Fate down on them. The Bad Boys Club has once again picked the wrong target to play with.

Review:

The intensity of erotic feelings Ms. Church put into this short story is amazing! With only 52 pages, it managed to put every erotic dream I have ever had to shame. I could almost feel the lust, fear and need in these men. So hot, so wrong, so sexy, so taboo and yet OMG just sooo right. In case you are having troubles with how I feel about this book…it’s simply Fantastic!!

Santa’s Slay by Stephanie Burke

Title: Santa’s Slay
Author: Stephanie Burke
Publisher: Changeling Press
Pages: 60
Characters: Jack Frost, Peter Winston
POV: 1st
Sub-Genre: Fantasy, BDSM
Kisses: 3.5

Blurb:

Jack Frost doesn’t nip. He bites — and bites hard.
When reporter Peter Winston gets too close to the secrets of Chris Cringle and North Pole industries, he’s gifted to Chris’s bodyguard and ex-lover Jack Frost. Now it’s a matter of time before he gives into the delicious demands of the sadistic dominant, learning that being naughty can be so nice.

Review:

Santa’s Slay was a very addictive read. (Jack Frost as an S&M Dominant…now that is a sexy thought). I found the premise of this book very interesting and the characters were just HOT!! I will have the fantasy of Jack the Dom in my head in the weeks to come I am sure! And, Peter as the good little pain slut? Now that was a well written part! This guy could make the best Dom very, very proud. He takes it all without complaint and you can feel his pride through the words.

I really liked the storyline of Santa’s Slay and obviously I loved the characters! It was a little challenging getting over my “stereotypical” thoughts of holiday creatures. But, lord help me once I finally did, I think I may even have a little thing for Santa now! Recommended!

Pandamonium by Jade Buchanan

Title: Pandamonium
Author: Jade Buchanan
Publisher: Changeling Press
Pages: 57
Characters: Nuka Kisoun, Jackie Yu
POV: 3rd Person
Sub-Genre: Paranormal, Erotic Romance
Kisses: 4

Blurb:

In the continuing saga of Bear With Me… Nuka Kisoun has been looking forward to his holiday in China for months. Two weeks as the fourth wheel for his cousin Theo and Theo’s two mates may not sound like an adventure, but he’s game for anything. Only his relaxing vacation turns into pandemonium when Nuka discovers their sweet little tour guide is his mate. It’s every man for himself when panda shifter Jackie Yu meets a big, bad polar bear who plays for keeps.

Review:

If you go down to the woods today, be sure of some hot bear loving.
Nuka and his cousin Theo, and Theo’s mates Christopher and Robin take a holiday to China. Nuka and Theo are polar bear shifters while Christopher and Robin are polar/grizzly mixes. Nuka is still searching for his mate, and is instantly taken with their tour guide, Jackie, who turns out to be a panda shifter. Nuka is very interested, but unsure how to approach Jackie. But when they reach Old Lijang, Jackie makes a move on Nuka. They make love, and find they’re mates.

As luck would have it, while Nuka spends the next few days fretting about what might be, it turns out Jackie has a job offer in Saskatchewan. They have to part while Nuka returns home, but Jackie promises to follow.

I loved this story; it was fun, frothy, and fascinating. The little snippets of information regarding China, its towns, and food were enough to make if feel authentic. The thought of Christopher and Robin as the mates of a bear had me giggling. None of the boys actually shift into bear form, but I could just imagine Nuka as a polar bear. The sex was hot and loving, and Nuka and Jackie made a great couple. The POV is all Nuka’s. Whether you like shifters or not this is a light-hearted read with lots of love.
