Title: A Fighting Chance
Author: Andi Penn
Publisher: Torquere Press
Getting beaten up just to get the attention of a guy you’re into might seem a little on the extreme side, but it works for Tazer. Split lips and black are eyes are good enough to interrupt his dates with the added bonus of convincing Owen to patch him up. It might hurt, but if he can just convince Owen to give him a chance, then it’s worth every single scrape and bruise.
Taylor, Tazer to his friends, is a college football player obsessed with his roommate, Owen. Owen might or might not return this obsession and the uncertainty is driving Tazer to unbelievable behavior. He frequently will go out, get drunk and deliberately get into a fight and get himself bruised and bloodied. Then he will return home knowing that Owen is entertaining and blatantly interrupt whatever might be happening between Owen and his guest, sure that Owen will then cater to his needs and send the guest packing.
One night Tazer forces this behavior further than even he believes is the actions of a sane man. This night he discovers that good old Taylor Whitehall might not be the only gay man alive with issues. Has he pushed himself so far that he might never realize whatever it is he seems to be seeking from Owen? Will Owen see through this madman behavior enough to send Tazer packing this time instead of his date? Happiness; is it a battle either of them is willing to fight?
Andi Penn has so wittingly brought to light how important communication is not only in a sensual relationship but in a cordial one as well and that speech is not the only form of communication that requires our attention.
In a truly entertaining tale Andi reminds us of how tumultuous emotions can be in early love and just how much of a rollercoaster ride it can be. So be prepared to not only be entertained but enlightened as well.
