Caspian Carpathian is a nearly two centuries old vampire. He’s learned to control not only his blood lust, but his emotions as well. That’s how he became the perfect diplomat for the Vampire Council. In an effort to warn the vampire population ahead of time, Caspian is sent to Stone Ridge to learn about the scientists threatening shifters. He’s not prepared to come face to face with his beloved. After a rocky start, he discovers that Casey, a small bunny shifter, fears him and his teeth. Now Caspian has to use every ounce of restraint he can manage and every seductive tactic in his arsenal to win the trust of the one man that completes him.

Casey Streusel is beyond grateful to a number of members of the Stone Ridge wolf pack. After all, they saved him from an almost certain torturous death at the hands of scientists. Sure, Casey is still extremely skittish and deathly afraid of needles, but he’ll get over that eventually, right? Discovering his mate is a blood-sucking vampire throws his newly created world completely off-kilter. He suddenly finds himself battling two sets of urges, both new to him. Can he figure out how to relinquish control to his mate and accept the pleasure he offers? Or will he give in to his desire to flee from those needle-sharp fangs?

Review:

Before Charlie Richards I was not a big fan of shifter stories. And now? I can’t seem to get enough of her marvelous characters, her amazing very active imagination, her awesome story lines, I mean really I have nothing but good to say about her as a writer. Her stories are truly made to take it’s reader right out of the real world and set them down gently into hers and her character’s lives.

This is the ninth story in this shifter series. I will be honest and tell you I have not read these in order and I am very happy to say that I have not at any time been lost as to who is who, the roles they play, even if in the prior book she brought in new characters I was able to catch on enough that I was comfortable reading them out of order.

Okay, Casey’s Love Bite is one of the cutest of these shifter stories. Casey is a new character in the story, he’s somewhat small, he was yet another those evil scientists got their hands on and experimented on, taking muscle from one of his legs causing him to have a limp when in human form, and because he’s a white bunny when he shifts, he’s an albino as a human. He’s close friends with a few members of the pack and they protect one another as one would expect a pack to do. I have to tell you, the start of this one had me giggling. I absolutely adore the Alpha Declan and his mate Lark. They appear in the opening scene when Caspian Carpathian comes a calling. Caspian is a vampire and he is there on “unofficial” Vampire Council business. He wants to speak with Declan about the scientists who are taking the shifters however they can get them and what Declan knows about them. Caspian really has a great heart in this at the start, he is there to help because he doesn’t want the same thing happening to the vampires.

Well, let me tell you, when the vampire sees and smells Casey? Wow. A scene worth reading there. I’m not going to share it with you because I really want you to read this book.

Casey told Declan when he first met him that someone from his pack back in AZ kidnapped him and sold him to the scientists and since escaping the clutches of the asses who did experiments on him, he hadn’t been back to his pack because he knew his father disliked him and he knew someone had arranged for something to happen to him. He was scared to go back but he missed his mother and sisters and since he was sold to the one’s he was, Caspian and Declan agreed that perhaps it was time for Casey to pay a visit to his pack.

Let me say that the shifters aren’t very fond of Caspian, because he’s a vampire, and once Casey recognizes that Caspian is his mate, with fangs, let’s just say the poor little guy is scared out of his wits. He has a horrible fear of needles, all thanks to the scientists. And the only way for a vamp to know if one is his true mate is to? YEP…bite them. Dilemma.

Caspian, Casey, and a couple others from Declan’s pack travel with the two to protect Casey from not only Caspian but from his pack as well. They arrive to meet Casey’s family, and let me say that nothing really goes well.

A kidnapping, a murder or two, a light on the events that happened to Casey, get turned on, it’s a lot to take in for the little rabbit but he comes out shining as his mate does and I truly loved the whole story, from the start to the end.
