Work hard, stay anonymous and don’t expect much. That’s resort housekeeper Mark Sintorella’s philosophy of life. After being kicked out of his family home at sixteen for being gay, Mark knows what it takes to survive. But how is he going to stay anonymous when he wants to be recognized as a great fashion designer? And how can he control his expectations when he’s desperately attracted to Ashton Armitage, the son of the fifth richest man in America?
If Ash doesn’t find a woman to marry, he’s going to lose his inheritance, but he can’t seem to resist the beautiful kid who cleans fireplaces while hiding behind a black cap and heavy glasses. And then this crazy elf of a man, Carstairs Pennymaker, has Mark running around looking like a fashion model wearing gorgeous women’s clothes.
The clock strikes twelve and the wedding follows the ball. Two beautiful princesses line up for attention. But one isn’t interested and one isn’t a woman. Who will be the bride? Will the shoe fit? Only his fairy godmother knows for sure.
Review:
Sinders and Ash is a feel-good, sexy, fun read that I thoroughly enjoyed from start to finish. I’ve read several books by Ms. Lain and I’ve enjoyed them all. She has a knack of really writing characters that I come to like and admire, and I look forward to reading more books by her. Since the blurb does an outstanding job at describing the story, I won’t rehash it. Instead I thought I’d talk about why I loved this book and why it’s going to have a place on my keeper shelf.
I’m a sucker for fairytales. There’s no denying that I blame all of the Disney movies I’ve watched, and the many happily-ever after books my grandmother read to me as a kid that has created my addictive passion for reading romance novels. In Sinders and Ash, we get the handsome prince…er millionaire, that is forced to marry or he’ll lose his wealth. But once he lays eyes on the mistreated stepchild…er… sexy and hardworking housekeeper, sparks fly between them and they soon ride off into the sunset. Honestly, it just doesn’t get much better than that!
As you can probably tell, I really loved the heroes in this book! Both Ash and Mark are interesting and complex characters. They have their own goals they want to achieve in life, and neither man is able to achieve it. Both are stuck in a situation that is really beyond their control, but once they meet each other, they become determined to find a way to be together. Honestly, all of the characters in this book were well written. Most of them were likeable, and there were some that I wanted to strangle, but every one of them were interesting and kept the story itself flowing quite nicely.
The chemistry between Ash and Mark was sizzling hot! I loved the intensity between them and I appreciated their determination to fight to be together AND for what they believed in. There is just the right amount of angst and sexy-sweetness in the story that kept this reader enthralled with the ongoing drama and romance between the two heroes.
As a fan of fairytaled inspired romances, Sinders and Ash is one of my personal favorites that I’ve read with this theme. Between the fast-paced storyline and the sexy spin on a well loved classic, I loved every moment I spent with these characters. It was a perfect way to spend a lazy afternoon! If you are a fan of these types of romances, I highly recommend checking this book out and I can’t wait to read more by Ms. Lain in the future.
