Bounty hunter Matthew Blood is a Bloodhound shifter, so tracking things comes naturally to him. But when one of his skips gets blasted out of a fourth floor window, Matt goes after the only other person in the vicinity, and gets fairy-smacked himself.
Rum leaves the safety of the mound to bust a fairy dust ring and rescue some captured fairies. In the process, he quickly finds himself the target of the sexy bounty hunter tracking one of the dealers. Trapped and being pursued on multiple fronts, Rum asks Blood for help.
Blood is happy to lend a hand, but he soon discovers fairy dust isn’t the only addictive thing about a fairy.
Review:
I actually requested this book from the author. We’re spotlighting Declan Sands here in September, and as I was checking out the author’s website, I noticed this book and immediately became interested in reading it. I’m glad I did because Dusted has just the right amount of fun, mystery, romance and uniquely written characters that kept me fascinated with the story from start to finish.
Bail Enforcement Agent, Matthew Blood is a bloodhound shifter who mission is to bring those who jump bail back to jail where they belong. Since he’s from another planet and because of his special abilities as a bloodhound shifter, he’s very successful at what he does. As he’s staking out a perpetrator, something goes very wrong and he ends up saving a young man in the building.
It doesn’t take long before Matt realizes that the young man is a fairy. Although, Matt hasn’t been around many fairies, he’s immediately attracted to the young fairy, Rum, even though he doesn’t quite trust him. As soon as Rum explains he’s trying to save some captured fairies and asks Matthew for help, the bloodhound shifter finds himself agreeing to help him. Soon, they are both swept up into the dangerous work of trying to bring the ring leader to justice and as they continue to work together, the attraction between the two men start to sizzle and burn. Will they be successful in their quest to help the fairies and trust the strong bond that has formed between them?
Dusted was a fun story that I highly enjoyed reading. I loved Matt’s gruffness and enjoyed watching this sexy, tough-guy being brought to his knees by a determined and adorable fairy. I liked the banter and intense chemistry they had for each other and enjoyed the adventure they had together. I also liked that Matt was a bloodhound shifter (I thought that was creative) and the back history of his character.
Also, Rum is definitely a force to be reckoned with. Even though he’s a fairy, he’s not a wimp. His sheer determination to help his peers, even though he could receive some dire consequences about it, really made him a likeable hero. I enjoyed his flirty disposition and thought he and the growly Matt were really a well-matched couple.
Declan Sands is an author I’ll definitely look out for. I enjoyed the creative world-building this author has as well as the ability to make a shifter story read fresh and interesting. I enjoyed the easy style and descriptive storytelling ability this author has and I’m glad I took a chance and read a book by an author that’s new to me. I’m looking forward to reading the next book in the series and recommend this book for those who like a really good light-hearted, fun and sexy fantasy/paranormal romance.
