Still in the closet, custom motorcycle mechanic Mack MacKenna takes his pleasure in long weekends away from home as a silent partner in a members-only style club. These weekends provide Mack with nameless, relationship-less debauchery. Although he’s out to his best friend, he still worries about his family’s reaction.

Crypt Ross is an out and proud up-and-coming young artist who has had a crush on Mack MacKenna since his senior year when Mack talked to his shop class. Since then Crypt has poured out all of his angst and unrequited love into his art, scoring himself a full-ride scholarship to art school.

What happens when Mack and Crypt come together? Will it be happily ever after or love lost?

Review:

Mack MacKenna has been living a lie. As a successful motorcycle mechanic he’s well liked in his small community, but no one but his best friend knows the secret he keeps about his homosexuality. As far as Mack is concerned, it’s not a big deal. He’s not interested in a long-term relationship and when he does get the urge to sow his oats, he’ll treat himself to a few days at a member’s only club that caters to gay men. But when Mack spots a sexy, young man at the local movie theatre giving him the eye, Mack can’t help but be intrigued by him. He’s even more surprised when the younger man steals a passionate kiss from him in the dark after the show. Since then, Mack hasn’t been able to get the sexy, delicious tasting man out of his head and fantasies. So, he decides a night at the club is exactly what he needs to get his mind off of the seductive looking imp that haunts his every thought.

Ever since Crypt Ross spotted Mack MacKenna three years ago, he hasn’t been able to get the older, fascinating man out of his mind. As an artist, Mack has unknowingly been Crypt’s inspiration and his sensual paintings of him have given him the scholarship he needed to go to college and to get his career on track. When Crypt spots Mack at the movie theatre, he’s thrilled by the heated look Mack give his way, so when Crypt is given the opportunity to sneak in a heated kiss, he took it. But now his crush on Mack is even stronger, and he longs to be with Mack again; even if it’s just for a few stolen moments. When he finds out from a friend that Mack frequents at the Member’s only gay club, Crypt knows he must go there and seek out the man of his dreams. Once he’s there, he meets with Mack and they soon fall into bed, and both men are quickly swept away by their deep feelings and affection they feel for each other. But with Mack living firmly in the closet and Crypt being out and proud, this will cause a rift in their relationship. Will Mack be able to push aside his fears and take a chance on the love and friendship he found with Crypt?

Grease Paint is a fun and sexy romance that quickly swept me up into the lives of these two sexy and interesting characters. Even though Mack and Crypt are opposite in many ways, they really fit together beautifully, and I loved watching these two work through their differences and try to build a firm foundation together. Plus, the sizzling hot chemistry between Crypt and Mack practically steamed up my ereader every time they were around each other. Whew! After reading one particular love scene, I had to turn on my ceiling fan to cool off!

At just under 85 pages, Grease Paint is the perfect afternoon read on a hot summer day. West Thornhill is a new author for me, and after reading this short, I’ll definitely be looking for more books written by him. I really liked his easy style of writing and his ability to bring his characters to life. Highly Recommended!
