Answers all of the questions you’ll ever have about what goes on, sometimes before, mainly after, young men are incarcerated by the legal system behind confining razor-wire fences, steel bars, and locked doors. Are the horror stories of detention true? Are the rapes that frequent? Are the police and prison guards cruel and corrupt? Is true love never found among inmates? Short of becoming eighteen and being jailed by society, you likely won’t ever get as close to the truth as these insightful and erotic Maltese vignettes take you.

Review:

As the blurb plainly states this series written by William Maltese does indeed answer any questions one may have about what goes on behind those locked doors in a reformatory. He holds no punches, he gives it in detail as any young man would. The same vocabulary, the same thought process, the same everything. There are seven stories so far in this series, I read the first three as I’ve outlined below.

Dear Parker is a story about a boy sent a letter to his boyfriend, or, friend with benefits, who is spending some time behind bars for beating up a guy who spit in his beer. Basically this boy talks about how much he misses him and is at the same time while writing the letter seems to have “other matters in hand,” so to speak. It goes into detail and he promises that no other can make him feel like Parker can, and he does go and try to find replacements. Again, this is point blank, no soft porn here and very little else.

Pintor is a short about cellmates and how one boy underwent some terrible abuse and the other boy provides comfort by offering up his body to help the other to sleep. It’s told in Pintor’s voice and again, vivid details about what he does sexually for his mate.

Tony is about a young boy who finds himself missing his cellmate, Tanner once he’s proven innocent by his lawyer. He also goes into vivid detail about the sexual encounters but this story is done in a bit more detail.

Overall, this series seems to be a bunch of shorts with small looks into several boy’s lives while either locked up or have someone who is locked up. I’ve read a few other of Maltese’s books over the past couple years and I have to say, this series here is just a taste of what the man delivers.

Well, William is the master of the…I can’t say it because he’s got it trademarked…well, he’s the master of what he does, and the review makes that clear enough, I think – but it’s more than just hot action – lot of writers do that – William makes it matter, and that’s harder (no pun intended) to bring off.

That was very interesting and piqued my interest enough to go and read it and others related to this series. Well done.
