Finding Sanctuary is the story of Vincent, a typical, average guy who has begun to unravel. He has a respectable, mainstream life, with a solid job, nice girlfriend, comfortable house—all the material trappings. What, then, is causing this restlessness, these blackouts? The first revelation is that his best friend Eric is also his heart’s desire. But then Eric invites him to a weekend at a BDSM playhouse … There Vincent will confront his fears and test the limits of his sexual boundaries. Eric has his needs, too—needs that conflict with Vincent’s. Will their fragile new bond survive the weekend? Will Vincent find the sanctuary he so fervently desires?
Review:
D.C. Juris has delivered a story that really does push the envelope. Finding Sanctuary is about a man who, due to childhood abuse, seeks to find peace within his soul through BDSM. Vincent has it all, or so it appears. A nice house, a great job, a fiancé, about anything he wanted or needed except for peace within his heart. Money can’t buy peace, happiness or love, nor can it provide relief. All of that is what Vince wants more than anything but it’s not within his reach.
His best friend since high school, Eric sees the pain in his eyes, he knew of the abuse Vince suffered, he has loved him since he can remember, but he would never tell him in fear of losing him even as a friend. Then one night, things come to pass and they kiss. Eric invites him to a BDSM club owned by a friend of his, to help Vince find relief from his haunted memories. He wants to help Vince find himself to what he thinks or rather knows and he wants Vince to not only see it but to accept it.
DC takes his readers far into the BDSM scene with this tale. He dares us to take this powerful trip and realize that nothing is simple, or perhaps it is this simple? I guess it would be up to the reader. Vince is very damaged, his childhood has controlled his whole life and the only way for him to find relief is to enter the scene and give himself over to a Master.
Warning: This story goes beyond spankings. If you are squeamish about watersports and blood, you may want to skip it. If you’re okay with it, then pick it up and give it a go.
