David works in a prison teaching prisoners to read. His step father is the warden and they live just outside the electrified fence. David usually doesn’t see prisoners in a sexual way until Elliot Law is incarcerated at the Maximum security facility and assigned to him as his assistant. Elliot Law is a murderer, at least that’s what his file says, and David knows he should fight this attraction he has for him. But Elliot Law claims that he’s been framed for a murder he didn’t commit, and suddenly, incredible circumstances allow Law to escape. He takes David as a hostage, insisting that David help him prove his innocence. David is at the same time terrified of him, and drawn to him. To David, Elliot Law is a murderer with the face of an angel, and the heart of a monster…or is he?

Review:

I absolutely love it when an author takes on a prison story and does it as if he/she spent time in the pen to get the right feelings, phrases, atmosphere, and such right in the story they’re telling. Now, I can’t tell you I know D.J. to know if he’s spent time in the pen, but I can tell you, he nailed it. (Kidding! I know he hasn’t been in there.) Mostly we spent time with David in the class room type prison setting. Nonetheless, D.J. did a great job of it.

This is a story of David, the stepson to the warden at a Maximum Security Facility, and talk about mistreated? Goodness. He stays mostly because he really does enjoy teaching the inmates how to read and write, and his mother. He never once looked at a prisoner in a sexual way, he’s a professional, that is until he sees the new prisoner Elliot Law.

David’s step-father is a piece of work I’m telling you and if he can find a way to upset David, he does it. This lead to the placing of a cold blooded murder in David’s classroom as his assistant. David is stunned at their first meeting, instant attraction grows into something much more and it is something that David can’t quite come to terms with. He does all he can to forget the handsome murderer and just when he thought he had a hold on his feelings, he’s kidnapped.

Elliot Law is a mysterious man with a past he hides, but can’t get away from. He is a quiet sort, the serious type and has tunnel vision. His one goal is to get out of prison because he’s innocent.
